What happend to GD...?
I used to come here because of the many conversations about the current administration...Now I come here and it's all Dean vs Clark...or Clark is better then Dean...or My candidate is better than your candidate...

Come on people...I support Dean...but I also support Clark, Kucinich,Edwards and the rest of the field of candidates...but I don't see the purpose of all this infighting...all we are doing is giving the freeper lurkers something to laugh about...

I remember just a few short months ago...all of the candidate supporters here would be talking amongst each other about certain issues and getting along...what happend...?
What has brought us to this level of fighting amongst ourselves over which candidate is better than the other...

I really hope that all of us can knock off this nonsense and get back to focusing on the big picture...getting BushCo out of office...

Just my honest opinion...thanks...

8. Anyone But B*sh...(ABB)
GD should become a raisin farm. There are more sour grapes here than anywhere - and with all the 'heat' generated we should be quite successful at it.

3. It's learned behavior
I think as American political followers, we've had the notion of political infighting and negativism displayed so often in the media, that it is now a learned behavior that is difficult not to do. We've seen our leaders submit to this behavior so often, that now in the information age where the voices of the people are now able to be spread wide and far, that we tend to imitate that which we've seen.

I agree with you that the negativism often breeds enough contempt that we may be sealing our doom to come together as Democrats and get rid of George Bush, but I can assure you that when the favorite candidates start being whittled down, you'll see a concerted effort to get behind one nominee. I may be dissapointed in some other candidates policies, or what they've said to the press, but that will never outweigh the disgust I have with the Rove/Cheney administration.

4. I suppose DU'ers should let the media decide for us?
Okay, in that case, I've just switched to Dean! Everybody else must follow suit now, just so the freepers don't laugh at us!

..do you really give a damn what a freeper thinks? These same people think 9/11 is Clinton's fault, yet your main argument against vigorous individual candidate support is preventing these idiots from laughing at us. Let 'em laugh at us, and then they'll forget anything they read here after any salient points from the Ann Coulter book they've just read replaces everything that was previously stored in their miniscule brains.

7. That's not my point...
I am not saying that everyone has to switch to Dean...please tell me where I have said that...?

I support all our candidates...and I hope the best one wins the nomination...whoever that may be...but why do we have to have all this nitpicking going on...GD didn't use to be this way...

5. A periodic flare-up, nothing more
Edited on Fri Dec-12-03 03:22 AM by PurityOfEssence
Believe me, I've been around for a while.

It's cyclical, and it's liable to be some version of strident for the next three months, or however long it takes to decide on a nominee.

This is the main event: the picking of a standard bearer for the Presidency. We're in uncharted territory here; this has never happened on the board before, and this is an especially charged moment in history.

You'll find depressed people, angry people, self-righteous people and all sorts of more sage presences these days, but the shrill ones will stand out. What did you expect? The Gore endorsement was a bolt from the blue, and everyone's in a tizzy. Deanies are thrilled and inches from the promised land; many are outraged by any resistance, and many are level-headed about it, but the extremists always get more press. Others of us who either strongly support another candidate, strongly dislike Dean or see him as a disastrous candidate (or all three) are understandably hyperactive here, and that's just human nature.

This too shall pass, and much is to be excused, but one's mettle is shown during times of duress, so enjoy it and try to respect the other poor saps along for the ride. Then again, you have the right to hammer the bastards who can't seem to scrape up a scruple even on a good day, and you've got a certain amount of duty to mankind to do so, within reason. Dammit.

10. Politics is violent.... emotionally
Edited on Fri Dec-12-03 03:26 AM by FDRrocks
Deal with it. I would really have it no other way. In no case is politics pretty, and I'd rather have all candidates attacked from whatever standpoint, read the argument, and find out for myself.

The Democrats need to weed out the candidates, and it will never be pretty process.
