CNN: Nader eyeing another White House Run
Edited on Fri Dec-12-03 06:17 AM by La_Serpiente
PRINCETON, New Jersey (CNN) -- Consumer advocate Ralph Nader said Thursday he is leaning toward another independent run for the presidency and will make his decision public in January.

"We're testing the waters," Nader said in an interview with CNN. "It's a high probability but that is yet to be determined."

Nader has formed an exploratory committee for a 2004 run and said he would gauge his support through the success of fund-raising efforts and the number of volunteers who come forward.

<snip>

"I would say to Democratic voters the following: If you think that a third party candidacy is going to take away votes and cost the Democrats the election, you've got the power entirely within your own franchise when you go to the voting booth and vote for the Democrats," Nader added.

1. Democrats also have the power to speak the truth.
See my post at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=886451

Any Democrats who are serious about scuttling Nader's presidential bid should get off the philosophical and generally phony merry-go-round and
start publicizing Nader's association with such corrupt elements as Commercial Alert, the Citizens' Campaign for Commercial-Free Schools, Green Party of Seattle and the Seattle School Board.

Unfortunately, few Democrats will bite because they're in bed with the Education Mafia, too.

Here's my challenge for Democrats and Greens alike:

Ask not what public education can do for you; ask what you can do for public education.

2. Nader reveals himself as a giant sized ego waiting to hatch
If he has a brain, he will realize what damage this idiot Bush is doing to this World as well as this Nation.

An ernest, serious attempt is needed to rid ourselves of the Pig Farm owner from Texas.

He knows the odds favor a concentrated effort, not that of a diluted one. If he cares about the things he professes he does, he would help by keeping the vote concentrated in the Dem Party.

Granted he will do what he is free to do. If he runs, This citizen will suspect some sort of "arrangement" was made.

I fear for this Nation more than ever at this point.

4. If you really feel that way, then stop slinging rhetoric and grab on to
something concrete. Read my post, and think about the significance.

Telling the world Nader associates with corrupt organizations, like the Seattle School Board and Green Party of Seattle, is a lot more effective than engaging in philosophical arguments.

7. Huh?
"Those are all very good schools"??? What are you referring to?

Commercial Alert isn't a school, nor is CCCS, the Green Party of Seattle or even the Seattle School Board. They're all very corrupt and are among the reasons public education is such a disgrace.

3. Nader can go take a flying leap
Friggin' GOP loving asshole.

Egomaniac, too.

I wonder if the Greenies realize that 99% of the animosity directed to their party is because of stupid-ass Ralph.

6. nader helps dean
By making him look "moderate" to the person who isn't paying attention.

Unfortunately, much of politics is perception, and I suspect the Dean campaign will have a field day showing Bush as one extreme, Nader as the other, and Dean as the voice of sanity and moderation in the middle.

And somehow I don't think Nader's "they are all the same so vote for me" will be very convincing to many folks this time around.

So I actually hope Nader runs, and helps propel Dean to the Presidency.

9. That's right Ralphie, keep testing those waters
Maybe if we're all lucky, you'll fall in.

Jeez, give it a rest already. Nader has become yet another pompous, self-centered media-political celebrity. He should go back to looking out for the American consumer, at least he's done some good in that area.
