Short segment (it's Headline News) on E-voting and lack of a paper trail. Showed Rebecca Mercouri talking about eelctronic voting. The HAVA act may have led counties and states to "jump the gun". It will probably be 2006 before we really have the right kind of technology available. Talked about the certification process for voting machines, said it was Byzantine.

Talked about NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and its leader who said they can define standards but since they are not a regulatory agency, they cannot enforce them.
