(Illinois) Gov urges potential buyers not to remove Farnsworth House

Mies van der Rohe’s masterpiece will be auctioned off today, after a plan to have the state of Illinois purchase the house fell through. Only one of the potential buyers has promised not to move it, so one of the most important works of twentieth century architecture may end up in the back yard of some McMansion or on the ground of some theme park. I hope someone can prevent a horrible act of cultural vandalism, as bad as the Taliban who blew up the fifth century statues of Buddha ...
