9. I just went thru CPR training this week!
Chcek to make sure he is breathing
Check to make suret there is a pule; if you can't tell on one side, hit the other side (neck/carotid artery)
Get the person to sit on the ground...lying down might be painful.
Keep someone ready to escort teh emtS to the person

Keep calm, aspirin.

10. CPR with illustrations

1. CALL

Check the victim for unresponsiveness. If there is no response, Call 911 and return to the victim. In most locations the emergency dispatcher can assist you with CPR instructions.
2. BLOW

Tilt the head back and listen for breathing. If not breathing normally, pinch nose and cover the mouth with yours and blow until you see the chest rise. Give 2 breaths. Each breath should take 2 seconds.
3. PUMP

If the victim is still not breathing normally, coughing or moving, begin chest compressions. Push down on the chest 11/2 to 2 inches 15 times right between the nipples. Pump at the rate of 100/minute, faster than once per second.

CONTINUE WITH 2 BREATHS AND 15 PUMPS UNTIL HELP ARRIVES
NOTE: This ratio is the same for one-person & two-person CPR. In two-person CPR the person pumping the chest stops while the other gives mouth-to-mouth breathing.

11. I realize the help has arrived but-
For future reference for all, give a single aspirin, and keep the victim calm and as comfortable as possible. Monitor breathing and pulse and if either stop, begin CPR, continuing until paramedics arrive.

If patient is alert and awake just in pain just settle them in a reclined (not flat on back) position, give the aspirin and wait for help. Be sure t6o let paramedics know the dose of aspirin was given and when since they need to know all medications in the patients system.

14. Thank you everyone.
It looks like she will be ok. They don't think it is a heart attack, but are taking her in to be sure. We have alot of people here at the office helping, but I knew you guys would help.

12. Ask the 911 Dispatcher
That is what they are trained for.

I have written Skinner twice and asked him not to allow medical, or mental health advice threads on DU. There is one comment on here that should solidly explain why.

20. I agree. DU is not the place for medical threads...
regardless of the urgency--ESPECIALLY if it's urgent.

I constantly see specious, and often dangerous, med advice on these boards from people who, though earnestly trying to help, may be doing more harm than good.

If it's urgent, call 911, end of story.

If it's another medical condition you might be concerned about and you don't think it's really urgent, contact your physician, or another health care professional such as an RN who is trained to assess the urgency and nature of your problem. They can give you personal advice based on your situation. But please, for your own sake, don't come to DU.

I don't want to sound like an asshole about this, but I don't think DU or any of our helpful people here really want to be responsible (and perhaps liable) for another poster's health--or lack of it.

21. I hit alert on this thread....and I am going to sound like a jerk
But, there are at least two or three suggestions on this thread that if followed, are useless at best, and dangerous at the worst.

Scary shit on DU.

17. Thanks, I was/am really scared.
I know it sounds weird, but I really love my boss. This one at least. She is the type that trust you to do your job and believe her main job is to get & find you the tools you need to do your job better. I pray she will be ok and I'll let you know when I know.

22. I'm locking this thread.
If you need medical advice, you should call 911. We are not qualified to give it. I hope that your boss is okay.
