Sure you haven't heard that meme. But that will become the conventional wisdom if he is noiminated. Even Senator Joe, the most conservative person in the race, will be branded as a scary liberal Democrat by the other side.

They will find his liberal votes and statements trot them out, and say "You can't vote for this man. He may talk like a conservative, but he's really a liberal Democrat just like Clinton."

Likewise Kerry. "He's just another Dukakis style liberal from Massachusetts." Likewise Edwards, Gephardt and even Clark. The GOP spin machine will paint ANYONE the Democrats nominate as "too far left and out of the mainstream."

Anmd yes, they will conmtinue to paint Dean as some wild-eyed liberal.

Now that we have that out of the way, can we start thinking for ourselves now? And stop putting this crap into the system about who is "unelectable" because they are "too liberal" and not "mainstream" according to the Republicans and Media Hos?

1. Joe, a liberal?
Geez, do they think we're that stupid? I've heard something funnier
than compassionate conservative, which I thought could never be topped.

2. We should always debate "electability" on OUR terms...
And never fall prey to debating it as "they" (Repubs and their media grovelers) paint it...They shouldn't be allowed to control our agenda, nor the country's, as they've done their level best to screw it up (with an unelected moron as their leader) for three years now.x(

I saw where ABC just pulled their "embedded reporters" from the campaigns of Dennis Kucinnich, Carol Moseley-Braun, and Al Sharpton. How nice of them to "tell" us who's "worth" reporting about!

Hope the other networks have the common sense NOT to follow suit!

B-)

3. Good. Let's talk about energy policy, blackouts, foreign policy
undoing the damage to our relationships with allies, economic policy, progressive taxation, federal government business with companies that move their base off shore to avoid paying federal taxes, SEC regulations that don't address fraud, fair trade, and the like.

4. Grrrrr....
I really hate it when Republicans try to tell me where my own damn party is going wrong. Like they're doing me a favor by giving me this "advice"! As if they want to see us win!!!!

Seriously though, if there's one thing the American people have CONSISTENTLY shown, it's that they want STRONG LEADERS. The nation is a group of fence sitters statistically. You don't get fence sitters to follow you by being moderate. You get them on your side by being strong willed, by having convictions, by showing that you are a leader. As wrongly pointed as his convictions are, Bush's convictions are strong. A lot of people like his jackass arrogance and his swagger. We need someone to counter THAT, not his policy. I think Time recently did a poll that shows nearly 60% of Americans hate Bush's policies, yet still love Bush the person (for god only knows what reason).

So far, Dean is the only true fighter in this race. So is it any surprise that he's the leading Democratic nominee? Personally, I think Gephardt's a better candidate and would make a better president, but I think Dean's got a better shot at winning because of his personality. Hate to say it, but this is a beauty contest, and Dean's the prettiest.

5. Let's just be glad...
That we have nine quality candidates to choose from. The GOP only has one, and a pretty sorry excuse for one at that!

7. Yeah and think of how potent we'd be if....
Instead of trying to sink each other with nonsense, they're aim at Bush and SHOW US how they'd fight him the general election.

6. oh yeah
sometimes Joe takes it a little too far ranting on and on about Marx and the need for the proletariat to rise and usurp it's master. That Joe "Hebrew-Castro" Lieberman, that's him alright.

10. Well said
The best strategy is to actually run a Liberal (Kucinich). The Dems always fall into the trap of apologizing for what they stand for. We need someone who espouses Liberal thought the way Thomas Jefferson did.

12. Moore said it best re: Swarzeneggar v. Davis
on why conservative dems don't do well.

If a voter wants a conservative why would they ask for the meatloaf when they can have the T-bone steak
