Finally more info on that attack yesterday...
SNIP...."BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi insurgents bombarded the fortified headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition in Baghdad early Friday, the first attack on the compound since U.S. forces launched a mass anti-guerrilla offensive a month ago."

SNIP...."The U.S. military could not immediately confirm what sort of munitions were fired, but sources said mortars were probably used to hammer the two square mile area, known as the Green Zone, on the banks of the Tigris river.

"There were four points of impact within the Green Zone," a U.S. military spokeswoman said Friday. "Two coalition force members were slightly wounded from flying debris, but the injuries are not life-threatening."

One building in the area, which comprises dozens of palaces once part of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s presidential compound, was slightly damaged. Smoke billowed from two locations. "

1. you know..
four points of impact in two square miles doesn't sound like it's being 'hammer'ed...but I'm sure it does if you're there...

3. Ok lets disect this
Palace compound, that is nothing less than the MHQ and HQ for the whole mess (Military Headquarters and headquarters, respectively). Folks what was hit was where Bremmer works, as well as General Sanches... this is the part nobody is telling you.

5. Would you people please move along.
You know damn well there is nothing to see here.

Why not focus on something good for a change. For instance, I heard a rumor that Choco-rations may be increased 2 mg. next quarter, and that Fox News has some nude photos of Ah-nold on its web site. Why don't you check that out?

6. Ya know, on 2nd thought, why don't you stick around
The worm is turning. I just read what I wrote above, and you know it just isn't even funny to me anymore. We are getting so little actual, factual reporting from our mass media. The media has failed America profoundly, and continues to do so.

I used to admire journalism and journalists a lot. They were my heroes. But no more. They know what they are doing. No one is so stupid as not to know anymore.

So I will henceforth strive to stiffle my instinct to make the "move along" joke when there is evidence that we are not getting the full story, or that the mass media is ignoring the proverbial "huge turd in the middle of the kitchen floor."

We must do what our media will not -- find out what is really happening, so we can make informed and authenticlly democratic decisions about our government and our lives.

Humorlessly, SH
