2. A Republican just called in

and has been a republican forever and said SHE will be voting for Clark and a LOT of republicans will be voting for Clark. HE can pull the cross over vote... And the military vote, the Veterans vote, the senior vote and everyone in between! :bounce:

Another lady from TEXAS says she will vote for Clark and he is the ONLY candidate who can win the south! :7 :bounce:

9. A real mindset

Including: my fundy sister-in-law and her husband, my pro-choice rep. sister, people at work--some of them Dems, some repubs and one Green. Gore's endorsement lost them all. We need to de-polarize the electorate if we want to grow the base.

Many military...who refer to Dean as a "four letter word." BTW, that is their comment not mine.

Clark has actively worked his cross-over appeal. The beauty of Clark is because he has been in the military, his liberal positions are not an issue.

Now there are liberals who knee-jerk into the usual "baby-killer" bullshit, but in America that opens the door for many voters who are don't like bush, and don't want more of the same 'ol.

Dean supporter on now. What a surprize...they are asking if he voted for Clinton.

A republican from Texas is saying that they would vote for Clark but no other Democrat. Bouchard talking about NH indies and repub coming over.

Another Texan...Dem. working in Texas...Clark is the only one who can challenge bushco in Texas. Talking about Clark's fundraising. Bashing bush.

Kerry supporter....wants Clark with Kerry on the ticket. Is Kerry viewed as threat?

A: Clark has eye on the prize.

Turn around plan, Clark will work within the budget and can pay for this.

8. That's my problem with Clark

He seems to know nothing about the major issues. Pick apart what he says to specific answers about healthcare, the environment or any other issue and all you get are generalities or corny shoot-from-the-hip vague responses.

If he's interviewed only on war-related issues, he likes to throw in military strategy lingo and gets fired up almost to the point that you think he wouldn't mind having a bombing campaign again just because it's just so much fun...

10. Clark vague?

No, he is extremely clear on the important issues. Tell me, when was the last time anyone other than a congressional staffer or lobbiest ever read the actual legislation that comes out of Congressional conference committees, rather the description of it that went into that conference? How many of us actiually read OSHA safety standard implementation guidelines, or have fixed opinions on how many parts per million of a given chemical should be allowed in drinking water? Now then, how many politicians even remotely have enough time to do that about everything?

OK, I'm exaggerating to make a point. The point is, no one human can be smart enough, or experienced enough, or well read enough, to singlehandedly develop specific solutions to all problems currently or soon to be manifesting. We are not electing a chief national handy man in Nov. 2004. The President doesn't tackle all these issues peraonally, neither does a Senator of Mayor. They hire staff, and those staff assemble expert consultants.

One of the major knocks against Jimmy Carter was that he was too detailed oriented and could not delegate responsibilities well enough. One of the knocks against Ronald Reagan was that he didn't know enough about anything, and guess which one won reelection? Being an effective President involves things like having a clear vision, establishing a positive and consistent underlying tone for the administration, winning the trust of the American people, showing good judgement about those to whom you entrust responsibility, having the ability to relate well to diverse people with assorted agendas, and responding well under pressure to unforseen emergencies. These are executive leadership skills.

Why do you think that when the CEO of a large Corporation steps down, he is not always replaced by someone from within the same industry, let alone the same company? A leader has to know how to lead his or her team. It is up to those who he or she is leading to know all the specific relevent facts regarding matters that must be dealt with. A leader must be able to assemble, motivate and keep the best team available, and create an atmosphere that enables each member to optimally contribute to the common cause.

Clark has shown exceptional executive leadership abilities throughout his career. He has been in politics for only three months, so Clark does not have a personal staff of political aids who have worked with him for years the way most of the candidates have. Clark has staked out an overall political vision that I am quite comfortable with, including many specifics that go beyond generalities like "pro affirmative action", and "pro environment".
When he gets the nomination, the entire talent pool of the Democratic Party and some Independents to boot will open up and be available to Clark in drafting his future administration. I am backing Clark because of his proven abilities and correct orientation on the issues of importance to me.

Republican: bush is the best...better what you know than you do.

A: Clark will get us out of mess, and will bring jobs.

Dem Clark from VA. This one is a Korean vet. Rich get richer under repub.

Retired vet: Says vets have been promised much but delivered little. Also, wants term-limited federal judges.

A: Weak answer...sounds like jargon IMHO. Clark has a great vet program and the manager.

7. What is Clark doing about Gore endorsement?

Caller found Gore action cynical and compares it to Nixon's endorsement for Goldwater. Caller also thinks Clark is best, and states that he never thought he would support a general, but Clark is unique.
