I have really enjoyed my stay here.

But everyone seems to live in a fantasy world on this board.

The people on this board are a perfect representation of why we are getting our asses kicked in election after election.

People are too dedicated to their candidates and fail to see the big picture the way republicans do.

Do you guys think that there aren't Bush supporters who dont want a more far right candidate? DOes that make them throw away their vote on some jerkoff like Nader? Nope.

Kucinich has a great platform if you live in a fantasy world where Bush isnt destroying everything around us. Every day on this board I read the outrage at Bush's policies and now when we have a chance to unify behind the frontrunner everyone is whining about how nobody respects their candidate.

Well you know what...tought shit. Your candidate had a chance to raise the money and capture the imagination of AMERICA, not just the town you live in. And America has spoken with their hard earned money. When people give Dean their money, they are speaking with a unity that will toss Bush out on his ass.

Every other vanity canidate (Sharpton, Braun, Kucinich, etc.) should bow out and throw support to the frontrunner who was just endorsed by out last elected president.

Grow up, wake up, join the REAL WORLD people. Kucinich can talk all he wants about pulling out of Iraq, and universal healthcare but it is jut TALK.

A dem in the white house makes this an actual possibility, not just a self gratifying fantasy.

frustration. People need to start pulling their heads out of the sand really quick, or we're really going to be in trouble.

I think one of the major problems, and I'm quite guilty of this as well, is that many of us spend a lot of time on DU so that we begin to think that everyone thinks the way we do and that everyone understands how the right controls everything, including the media, and how the media whores and the press manipulate everything and how there's so much happening that the mainstream media never focuses on or talks about. But most people don't, and we need to understand that before it's too late.

It seems to me that the primary is the perfect time to vote for the candidate you REALLY like. The only way that can backfire is if the majority of a party is too far left of the general electorate. In that case, the party can't win anyway.

This is a different issue than voting for Nader in the general election. I say go ahead and vote for Dennis is you like him. In all likelihood, he won't win, he'll endorse Dean (or whoever wins) and you can vote for that candidate in the general election.

Now is the perfect time to vote for who you like.

The repugs had a primary before 2000 that got pretty ugly as well. I advocate complete party unity behind our nominee once he/she is selected, I also DO NOT agree with dirty campaigning. But support for Dennis now will have no effect on how the nominee ends up against shrubbie. There will be enough time for unity after the primaries.

Being from PA, I have absolutely no say who will be our nominee. I understand that and I deal with it, by not getting crazy over what A said about B and what is C doing...

Within the next few months our nominee will be named and that's when we get behind them. At this stage wasn't * claiming that McCain was for breast cancer. Theres no reason to get all crazy here. Your candidate may be the best person for the job, but unless you live in Iowa, NH, or S. Carolina... what say do you really have in the process? Now, you can argue that Kucinich doesn't have a chance in the general election if you like.

But these are the primaries, and he isn't leading the polls anywhere, not even DU.

What you seem to want is to destroy any opposition to your candidate in the primaries by having long-shot candidates give up people to support Dean.

Sorry, this is a democratic process. And if someone wants to vote for the candidate with little chance of winning, that is their perogative. There is good reason to do so, as well. Candidates with strong support come into the convention with a say in the platform, they have influence. This is the way you have a say in the process, even if your guy doesn't win. What is wrong with that? Now, you may disagree with how they want to influence the platform, but it is still their right, and often the only influence those with "minority" positions in the party get during an election year.
