Saddam was in a hole, now he is in a cage. How does that change the truth about the war? Fact is, it doesn't. I am not in anyone's camp. I have been leaning towards Clark. However, the idea that the truth changes because bush now has Saddams face to put on the news is wrong.

Dean was right.

And not only that, but Bush is still a liar who allowed PNAC to concoct a pretense for invading and overthrowing a weak but sovereign nation on bogus evidence. Bush is still responsible for thousands of dead Iraqi civilians and thousands of dead or maimed American soldiers.

Bush is still to blame for the destroyed Iraqi infrastructure. He still gave billions of dollars worth of open-ended no-bid contracts to his cronies. There's still no proof that anything is being re-built in Iraq for our billions of taxpayer dollars.

Bush still tried to cut our soldiers' combat pay and our veterans' benefits. He still allowed sick and injured American soldiers to languish in deplorable conditions waiting for treatment. To this day, there are still soldiers fighting in Iraq without proper equipment, housing and food.

There are still no WMDs located in Iraq.

And Osama bin Laden, who Bush told us was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, is still free and running al Qaeda.

Capturing Saddam isn't a factor one way or another
in this election. No one is safer except the cockroaches
in the rathole they shared with him. It was expected
that forces would find him sooner or later...the latter
being the case. Putting him on trial now in the Hague
would be the best thing for the world....if America
chooses to lock him up in Gitmo forever, that would

Although I am a Dean supporter, I'd like to add that Kucinich, Braun, Sharpton and the millions of people who opposed this invasion were also correct. Still no WMD, we still invaded without credible evidence of an imminent threat, we're still losing soldiers (one more today), and we're still going broke paying for the war for oil.

Why some people think that Hussein's capture changes any of that is beyond me.

18. The problem is that this invasion was a two-pronged political fork.

One prong is that it's about SH, and this is true. SH WAS a bad person who was holding the region back from progressing into a modern, democratic, middle-class-wealth-producing part of the world. He brutalized his citizens, and was important to end his reign and allow Iraq to move forwards.

The other prong is the US economic imperialism angle.

Clinton wanted to address the first prong without doing the second. Bush wouldn't have done the first unless there was a second prong.

Today's events focus attention on the first prong, and remind people of the good part of this thing (regarldless of the fact that the execution of it has been miserable and driven by a focus on the second prong).

In relation to the presidential candidates, anyone whose message didn't recognize these two prongs will look silly. Even Kucinich's statement says that it's good that SH is gone and that we have to take the American face off the operation (which is also how Edwards phrases the matter) and that we have to allow Iraq to be a wealthy autonomous, middle-class-wealth-producing country.
