Dow Boost from Hussein's capture!
Dow boost from superbowl win!
Dow boost because skirt hems are rising!
Dow boost because the NL team won!
Dow boost because Mars is in Libra!
Dow boost because ....ad naseum!

This has to be the most pointless, useless bunk ever. I have a few modest investments and know enough to get into trouble in the stock market but even I know the Dow represents a tiny portion of the overall market. It always amazes me that events like the above matter so much to some people and especially to the financial media which certainly should know there is no cause and effect.

Dow to go over 10,000 because the sun rose!

1. The sheep will follow..................
stocks are overpriced but the sheeple will waltz right into the market tomorrow with fists full of money. Within the next few months all the sheep will be shorn once again, the rich stealing everything from the little investors.
Remember BartCop's law of economics; if you make mistakes and they lead to a windfall of money, you can count on those mistakes being made over and over (or something close to that).
I've finally convinced my Mom to get her money out of Mutual Funds. She's just about back to the point where she was 3 years a ago. I DO hope the market goes up between now and Dec.26 when she's officially out of the market. I just can't bear to see her go through another market crash, she's too old for that shit.

2. Dow is a large portion of the Market
It's not the S&P, but it's a lot.

Don't expect a huge long lasting boost from this. Reality acts as gravity in cases like this.

3. You just have to sell as well as buy. Trade, don't just hold.
I know I will make a killing tomorrow. Could be the trading day of the year.
