Holly Joe attacks Clark, gets smacked good!

Joe Lieberman's camp is now trying to paint General Clark as a self-serving Pentagon lobbyist. (NYT and Wash Post today).  Huh?  The man led NATO to victory in Kosovo and could have made millions as an industry lobbyist, yet his records reveal that most of his income came from his books and speeches.  Our Chris Lehane made me smile with these responses:

NYT - Chris Lehane, a strategist for the Clark campaign, said, "We heard about this Lieberman attack more in sadness than in anger and believe Senator Lieberman should be spending more time worrying about Al Gore's assessment of his candidacy and less time worrying about records that Wes Clark made public months ago."

Wash Post--Lehane responded by pointing out that Michael Lewan, former Lieberman chief-of-staff and current campaign adviser, was a lobbyist for Enron who arranged 3 meetings between Enron officials and Lieberman's senate staff.  "When Wes Clark was getting mud on his boots fighting the war in Kosovo and making a little over $58k/yr, Joe Lieberman was making significantly more as he scurried down the Gucci Gulf hallway of the Senate in his wingtips being pursued by former-staffers-turned-Enron-lobbyists."

Is it possible that Clark really had a change of heart and had a religious conversion of sorts? Or is it out of the question, and why?

I'm just trying to get more information because he's saying ALL the right things these days, and I vacillate from thinking he's on our side to being very wary of him.

This doubt is why I'm leaning towards Dean, and the fact that Dean's a trained healer, not a trained killer.

I want more info on Clark. Got links?

You know saying that is going to cause some kind of flame war here. I am sick of that junk! I like Clark! I may be a Dean supporter, but I don't have to like one or the other. I would be happy with Clark if he gets the nomination, it doesn't matter to me, whoever comes out the strongest deserves our support and our respect. My dream is a Dean/Clark ticket but I will give my time either way. When ever ANY of the Dems makes good point, or in this case puts Lieberman in his damn place, I am happy. We are all in this together!

I'm glad that Lehane is smacking down Lieberman, but the Gore comment is uncalled for, and has nothing to do with Clark. If you read between the lines, it sure sounds like he is saying that Joe should be attacking Dean, not Clark. In reality, he should be attacking Bush.
