1. Of course not. That's why they held him until the Iraqi tribunals were..
set up:

One option is for new Iraqi tribunal to try ex-leader

The Associated Press

Updated: 11:17 a.m. ET Dec. 14, 2003 BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. officials said they still haven’t decided what to do with Saddam Hussein now that he’s been captured, but one option is putting him before a special tribunal established just days ago. A member of Iraq’s Governing Council said Saddam would face public trial.

Iraq’s interim government established a special tribunal Wednesday to try top members of Saddam’s government for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. At the time, they said Saddam could be tried in absentia.

Lt. Gen. Richardo Sanchez said at a news conference Sunday that the U.S.-led coalition was still deciding what to do with Saddam.

“At this point, that has not been determined, we continue to process Saddam at this point in time and those issues will be resolved in the near future,” Sanchez said.

Ahmad Chalabi, a member of Iraq’s Governing Council, said Saddam would be tried.

2. Rather than be cowed by Saddam's capture, I think the opposition should
be making lots of noise about his trial, insisting that it be publicized and that Saddam and plenty of witnesses are allowed to talk. Anything less would smack of Republican manipulation.

5. I don't think they care. . .
The people that believe Bushco still, won't believe the truth even when it's shoved down their throats.

Look at the responses from a guy names "Reed" in this post. You can present him with half dozen links to the information about anthrax shipments to Iraq from the US and he still says they didn't happen. He also says that Bush's ambassador to Iraq prior to Gulf War I didn't basically greenlight the invasion.

6. I don't believe they wanted to capture Saddam alive
NPR just reported that one of the soldiers was about to throw a hand granade down into the hole but Saddam popped out before he could do it. At that point with 600 troops in the area and a bunch of Kurds and Iraqis in the mix, they got stuck taking Saddam alive.

At this point, I'm sure they'll try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and try to turn things to their advantage but that may prove to be very difficult.

7. I think you are right!
A bigtime Bushco blunder to take Saddam alive! I wish Osama would turn himself in alive and tell his story too!

Maybe there is a Gawd and he's/she's tired of Bush's killing and stealing!
