I counted 127 times Bush said UH or AND UH during press conference .
I could have been a little off on this number due to the yelling I did at that tv.

1. It was a horrendous display
The stammering and stuttering and slurring were painful to watch.

Did he actually say anything?

Does he get answers fed to him through an earpiece? It almost seemed like he was waiting to be told what to say.

That was legitimate.

3. I'm doing my best to avoid cable news right now.
I've had enough. I heard Soledad O'Brien say "So basically the Democrats have nothing to say" this morning and that was the end of my interest in television made for mass consumption for quite awhile.

4. Wow.
He flunked my 8th Grade speech class about 10 times over with that little display.

If they wanted a puppet, why didn't they choose someone who was at least competent at it?

7. Interesting Speach analysis ...
Back when the Gropenator was running for recall, I heard a piece on NPR (I think).

What these folks did was remove all language sounds (actual words) from a speech, leaving extranious sounds. It was quite reveiling.

I remember the Arnold clip being full of strange sounds. The most effiecent orator was Arianna Huffington (sp?). Hers was a very rythmic breathing sound, with out any extranious sounds.

I don't think they played any AWOL clips, but I could imaging it would be an embarrasing display.

Anyone else hear this ? and know what it is called ?

Cheers
Drifter

9. I remember that piece
I forget the name of the website they gave at the end, but the next day (I think) they were reading listener letters and they commented that the story was an October Fools Joke (or something like that).

Which is a shame, because you're absolutely right, one of those for the Chimp would be so ridiculous as to cause the walls of reality to come crashing down around our heads.

13. Hey what a great idea. Someone should take a recording
of Chimp's utterances in this press conf., and do the same thing. Make an MP3 out of it. That way we can play it backwards, too.

I bet that file would become a massive Internet hit.

8. danger, kids
do not play any drinking games based on the number of times Bush sounds like an idiot or we will all end up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning.

11. Repetitive phrasing
* keeps pushing that 9/11 button, repeating himself over and over. Is there a transcript somewhere of this press conference?

12. Bush's "commiserate" instead of "commensurate"
Did I really hear him say (at least 4-5 times)"commiserate" instead of "commensurate" when the context called for the latter?

16. I noticed too
Was listening to his speech on the radio, and wondering if he had fallen off the wagon again or something. He didn't sound overly coherent or steady in his speech.

And yeah, he was hammering the supposed 9-11 connection something fierce.

Actually, (and maybe this is tin-foil hat time), I'm wondering if he may be disappointed that they caught him. I've been suspecting that the current Administration was planning to catch Saddam just before the 2004 elections, to boost Shrubs popularity. Now, with his capture, there's going to be more pressure for him to pull out of Iraq - and more attention paid to the economy and this so-called "jobless recovery" myth.
