So far it's cost us $170 bil and 450+ lives. Does Saddam's capture make it all worthwhile?

1. We've always been going after Saddam.

Just because we've accomplished the objective doesn't give the war any more meaning than it had before. All it means is that Bush didn't fail in the misguided objective he set before us.

To clarify: Our objective in the so-called "War on Terror" is our own national security, and this issue is irrelevent to that.

Man, I wish I didn't have to watch my words so much. I know if I'd left my post the way it was, someone would have come along and said, "So, you don't think it was a GOOD thing that we got Saddam? That's not a GOOD objective???" Psssh.

2. Lets not forget that the capture of Sadaam Hussein
makes this war no less illegal, no less right, and no more safer then a week ago.

Yes, that's the truth, and this capture means nothing. But many Americans have demonstrated a contempt for the truth. And I expect the Bushies are going to use this ad nauseum for '04 election. The capture of Saddam allows Rove to more esily control the discourse of the '04 campaign.

It will also help all the impotent Murikan couch-warriors who "support" the war and the prez to feel REAL good about themselves again -- like winners!

They can tell themselves they're winners in the great Mruikan and Eye-raqi Smackdown! From now on, preemtive war is a real Murikan strategy for our Republic (we're not a Democracy) and for freedumb...cuz it wurked.

Murica won!

Duh.

Yeah. I'm disgusted...

4. i still don't see what right we have to 'capture' him
What right do we have to go to another country, bomb the hell out of it, capture the leader, and put him on trial (and lots of folks, amazingly enuff including lots of brainwashed types here, are calling for his death).

I rub my eyes and look around and ask myself, Is this America??

Very bizarre.

5. It makes it
more worthwhile. But then again there's not much that could make it less worthwhile. None of which makes it worthwhile.
