Electoral history question. |

There was a major "anybody but Carter" movement in the 1980 primaries which drafted Teddy Kennedy and probably ended up throwing the general election to Ronald Reagan. Have we ever won an election after one of these fratricidal "anybody but so-and-so," or "stop so-and-so" campaigns?

I think anybody could have beaten Hoover at that point. The fact that FDR transcended the "anybody but Hoover" movement doesn't mean that that he would not have won, even with a clumsy campaign. Let's hope it works this time, too. ABB.
