Is the public turning on Bush? (The latest email joke)
"Hello, This is a joke I received from a friend about the President. This is a perfect example of how America is viewing him, now that his approval rating is below what it was when he came to office. We would never have received anything like this 18 months ago. It shows, in my mind, the American people have dropped the flag and grabbed their wallets. Maybe they read the newspaper. Overall, there is some humor to it but it shows the angst and uncertainity Americans are feeling. If jokes like these are floating around, we can expect the election to be an interesting one. Have a good day. "

----

A lobbyist, on his way home from work in Washington, D.C., came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this seems worse than usual." He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolled down his window and asked, "Officer, what's the hold-up?"

The officer replied, "The President is depressed, so he stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself in gasoline and set himself on fire. He says no one believes his stories about why we went to war in Iraq, or the connection between Saddam and al-Qa'ida, or that his tax cuts will help anyone except his wealthy friends; the press called him on the lie about Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger, and now Campbell Brown is threatening to sue him for a sexual innuendo he made at a recent press conference. So we're taking up a collection for him."

The lobbyist asks, "How much have you got so far?"

The officer replies, "About 14 gallons, but a lot of folks are still siphoning."

3. yes!
on a related note, I attended a family gettogether yesterday with a bunch of apolitical rednecks and no one was impressed by the big catch, indeed all thought the war was "bullshit". Now I just got to get them to vote!

4. Rednecks in the closet.
My extended family is rednecks too. Although one uncle is an NRA zombie (my dad rips on him all the time to his face). One of my female cousins has a big eagle and American flag with "9-11 Never Forget" tatooed on her arm. Needless to say even her mother thinks it's trash. But most of my family has read my letters to the (Gannett owned) local paper and know where I stand.

But yeah it's a matter of seriously asking them what they think. If they support Bush, ask them why and then systematically and FACTUALLY shoot down any possible reason they could support him. Unless your family owns an oil or pharmaceutical company, there is no reason they should support the Republican party.

6. Wow! What an amazing quote!
"Unless your family owns an oil or pharmaceutical company, there is no reason they should support the Republican party."

I'll be using that one from now on.

5. I Always Liked This One :)
As Governor, Bush got to ceremonially act as a state trooper for a day. While operating a speed trap Bush pulled over a Texas farmer. He lectured the farmer about his speed and the necessity of obeying laws made by his superiors, and in general threw his weight around. Finally, he got around to writing the ticket, and as he was doing so he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head.

The farmer said, "Having some problems with circle flies there, are ya, Sir?" Bush stopped writing the ticket and said, "Well yeah, if that's what they are -- I never heard of circle flies." So the farmer says, "Well, circle flies are common on farms. See, they're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of horses." Bush says, "Oh," and goes back to writing the ticket.

After a minute he stops and slowly says, "Hey... wait a minute, are you trying to call me a horse's ass?" The farmer says, "Oh no, Governor, I have too much respect for you to even think about calling you a horse's ass." Grinning broadly, Bush says, "Well, that's a good thing," and goes back to writing the ticket.

After a long pause, the farmer says, "Hard to fool them flies though."
