Kucinich calls for full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement
http://www.iais.org/shtmp.cfm?News_ID=3543

"American foreign policy towards Ireland represents an opportunity to positively impact the international peace process, and, as President, I would support the highest level of involvement in the negotiations of the Irish Peace Process. My administration would consider all options for the most effective placement of this responsibility to determine whether it belongs in the hands of the National Security Council or elsewhere within the structure of the US government. I would consider sending a special envoy of representatives to Ireland as needed to ensure the full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, which I believe represents a valuable opportunity for peace after many years of violent conflict," Kucinich said.

I'm a Dean guy but I love this. Might sway my vote in the primaries. I'm going to call on Dean's campaign to echo the same.

Tiocfaidh ar la!

Wonder what kind of pull Dennis has with Ian Paisley. The reverend (ahem) guy :scared: me.

8. St Patrick's Day 2001
Actually, I believe it was a day or 2 before--there was a St Patrick's day celebration at the White House. The usual music, etc., with prominent Irish-American politicians in attendance.

A few thought it odd that the Irish contingent included Ian Paisley. (He just doesn't seem a party guy to me.) However, Bush had gotten a boost after his (unpublished) campaign speech at Bob Jones University. The Paisleys have strong ties with that particular institution.

The Good Friday Agreement was part of Clinton's legacy. I don't think the Bush regime has been eager to carry it on. Has Tony Blair been encouraged to drag his feet a bit, as well?

2. Thanks for sharing this!
Glad to hear he might be getting your vote in the primaries!

Good luck with getting a similar commitment from Dean - don't see how it could hurt. :)

You may not know this but Kucinich is part Irish, his mother was, and I am part. Great DK :), god yet another reason to support him. That little guy just is so right on just about everything. I didnt know he was first generation on his mother's side. Thanks Dennis, :toast: to Dennis and to Ireland. :) thanks for this, the Northern Ireland conflict is of interest to me deeply having Irish blood.
