i hated that she said that it is OK that we give priority to American companies in Iraq because Americans risked their lives there and American taxpayers footed the bill for the war ...
this is what is meant by those on the left who accuse the Clinton's of selling out to corporate America ... they are both corporatists ...
so, ms. Clinton's logic is that because poor people who joined the service for economic and educational opportunities put their lives on the line in Iraq because they were ordered to do so, large multi-national corporations who have close ties to the GOP and bush should have their stockholders reap the benefits?
and because taxpayers like you and me paid roughly $150 billion, so far, we should sit back and watch no-bid contracts and their associated windfall profits accrue to the benefit of Halliburton, Bechtel and others?
this is not the right attitude to present to the rest of the world ... if we seek to "benefit our own", is it not fair to question our motives for engaging this madness in the first place?
Ms. Clinton made many good statements before the Council on Foreign Relations, but this corporatist crap was not among them ..
