Al Gore Draft: Best Chance for the Democrats

I think it is going to be a long hard march to victory in November.

We Dems need to field a ticket which is CLEARLY better than
Bush/Cheney from the perspective of the MAJORITY of the electorate.

We have to win the Electoral College. What's the ticket? After much discussion, this is it:

Gore/Dean.

Dean has ginned up the machine, but Gore showed in his speech to MoveOn that he is ready to lead the Party. Gore has a genuine record on progressive values (much more so that Dean) especially on the
environment. Nader will not run against Gore again. The people will be hot to avenge Gore for the great-vote robbery of 2000.

I think Gore was wrongly maligned by the progressive in 2000. Gore maitained some moderate positions through his career to remain faithful to his constituents, but alway seemed personally solid to me.

I think the Dean campaign has served to energize the base, but the grass-roots and internet movement that supports Dean would be happier and more successful supporting Gore. ESPECIALLY SINCE 04 SHOULD BE PAYBACK TIME!!

4. President Gore made his position clear last week
He wants to take back our party and our country, and he knows the best candidate for that job is Howard Dean :-)

13. Gore was Born to be President. Do you think he has forgotten
his entire upbringing and career.

Gore dropped out because the party leaders (clinton etc) wouldn't encourage him. With the emergent grass-roots movement happening
I am sure Gore would accept a DRAFT.

GORE's life prepared him to be President, not a liberal media mogul -- I am sure he would be willing to turn that over to others.

8. Please no!
He lost his state last time...showed less charisma than Lieberman and I don't know what he's really all about. Remember how he backstabbed Bill when he started his campaign last time? I'll never forgive him for that!

11. Gore 2000 would easily won if not for NADER.

Don't forget, GORE WON THE POPULAR VOTE. And the electoral college was stolen. Stop blaming him based on wrong premises.

With a better V.P nominee than mealy-mouth Lieberman, 2000 could have been a democratic landslide.

12. Granted. But I doubt that Nader impacted the electoral vote
Of course that system needs to be revamped. The majority of the people live in the states that voted democrat. And Florida was stolen. If we had a reasonable system that went with the majority not compromised electorates...Gore would've won either way.

I don't like what Nader did. But I can't blame it all on him. Even Lieberman was Gore's choice.

Ban the Electoral College system would be a way to go. Although we might've had Nixon sooner (in 1961) without it :(

14. Uhhhh... I don't see it
Gore has made it pretty clear, repeatedly, that he's not running. Endorsing Dean seemed to hammer that home even further.

20. Comments? Give Up Friend!
I was a Gore Drafter diehard for a long time, but when the man endorsed Dean, you would think his followers would take a hint!

Gore said NO RUN
Gore endorsed another Candidate!

there will be NO Gore/Bush rematch, but we can have a chance to bury Bush!

If you support Gore, support his endorsement, support his choice.

Otherwise, you are like the false Christian right, claiming to follw Jesus, but only in it for their own needs and desires. Is that what you want to become?
