Dean Picks Up a Whole Slew of Endorsements in the South
Dean Picks Up Score of Atlanta Endorsements

ATLANTA--During a campaign swing here over the weekend, Governor Dean picked up endorsements from a score of state and local officials here, in addition to his key endorsement from Congressman Elijah Cummings, the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The announcement was made Saturday while Governor Dean was at the home of former Sen. Leroy Johnson, Georgia's first African-American legislator in the modern era, and represented the campaign's largest group endorsement of African-American officials to date. The strong support given by the Atlanta community leaders also underscores how Governor Dean's campaign is connecting with Americans across the 50 states.

"For the first time, I'm hearing from a man whose talking about the issues that my constituents care about-quality health and education for our children," said State Senator Gloria Butler.

"We're the answer to the question of whether Howard Dean can campaign in the South," said State Rep. Nan Orrock of Georgia. "This is the South. We're Southerners. We're for Howard Dean."

"I'm honored that so many of Georgia's elected leaders are joining our campaign to take our country back," Governor Dean said.

"Americans across the country realize that this system has stopped working for them, and they want the same change: they want a government that represents the people, not the corporate interests, and they want quality schools and affordable health care. These are not southern issues or northern issues-these are American issues."

The Georgia lawmakers and elected leaders endorsing the governor Saturday include, State Sens. Gloria Butler and Valencia Seay, State Reps. Roger Bruce, George Maddox, Pedro Marin, Billy Mitchell, Howard Mosby, John Noel, Nan Orrock, Ron Sailor, Lanett Stanley-Turner, Pam Stephenson, Curt Thompson, and Stan Watson, County Commissioners Bill Edwards, Burrell Ellis, Hank Johnson, Larry Johnson and Lou Walker, as well as Lithonia Mayor-Elect Darrell Honoree.

The Georgia endorsers join over 10,000 other Georgians who have joined Governor Dean's campaign.

He's living in some parallel universe, outside the scope of "everyone." hmmm... Parallel Zell?

10. Welcome aboard Y'all!
And they thought the comment about "guys in pickup trucks" would kill Dean in the South??

The Doc was right. The issues don't change on either side of the Mason Dixon line.

11. "Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'"
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son, never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
and there's beer in Texarkana
We'll bring it back no matter what it takes

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Old Smokey's got them ears on
He's hot on your trail
And he ain't gonna rest 'til you're in jail
So you've got to dodge him, you've got to duck him
You gotta keep that diesel truckin'
Just put that hammer down and give it hell

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

19. State senators and representatives are legislative district/county wide.
US Senators and Governors are state-wide:). But you know that.

27. Boy, what do you people want?
Gore endorses him, Gore is a loser.
New Jersey Gov endorses him, He is a loser and Dean should have more Governor endorsements

28. Dean impresses people, let me raise the bar AGAIN!
You spent all that time posting that clever message when you could have been telling us all about the wonderful statewdide office holders who have endorsed YOUR guy.

20. So much for the Confederate flag flap
The endorsements are rolling in, even from African Americans. Looks like few are buying the racially divisive politics of some of Dean's critics.

26. Georgia , Georgia is on my mind
my home for the past 25 years. I truly think a Democrat has a chance to win Georgia and Dean/Clark has a good shot. Repug Gov. Purdue and Sen Chambliss slipped into office under the cover of darkness while Dems slept in this state in 02.
