The Pledge of No Free Sound Bites........
Zell Miller and Lieberman are handing the wingnuts all the free ammo that they need lately....

but as a member of DU, I hereby pledge never to make a post that a wingnut can read on air and mock the party,

I may not agree with all the candidates, I may not agree with all the planks in the platform, and I may voice my oposition to them, but never in a way that gives a soundbite to the bad guys....

anyone else?

1. too difficult
they will always find something to twist and distort. It would be like walking on eggs and it would no longer be a real dialogue. The best I can do is put thought into what I say and not shoot from the hip.

I am talking mostly about the over the top shit.....

Lieberman and "spider hole of denial" is going to give the right as much fodder as "voodoo economics" gave us.

that's what I am talking about.....

3. Which kind?
There is a lot of stuff that is posted here that we consider normal that a winger could consider "over the top."

I just have to let it go. I figure it's gonna happen, whether someone goes over the top or not.

just an off-the-cuff example:

485 comments, "I hate uncle Sam who always comes over for Christmas dinner and makes racist remarks"

RW cherry picker, "485 at DU says, I hate Uncle Sam"

..just having a little fun with it, but it's that easy.

5. Not to mention ...
confusing what "I think will happen", and what "I want to happen".

If we invade and occupy Iraq, hundreds of service man and women will be killed. This is why we need to get out now.

This is easily (with a warped RW ... ahem ... brain) twisted around to mean.

They do not think freedom is important enough to fight for, and they hope our servicemen will die.

It doesn't matter what you say, their interpretation will always reflect their warped point of view.

Cheers
Drifter
