"More than half the money driving the political campaigns comes from 1 percent of the people. And we wonder why popular positions, like universal health care or a living wage, are not enacted."

-Dennis Kucinich

1. Why I Back Dean
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 03:44 PM by Upfront
We must bust our country lose from this strangle hold on the average American. Dean is trying hard to run his campaine on an average donation of 90.00. We need to take our country back, people, and this is how you will get it done. Not saying bad stuff about the outher folks running, but Dean is the only one that has a shot at beating the big money boys.

3. Please excuse my ignorance...
I don't know much about Dean's platform...

Where does he stand on Health care reform? Living wages? Trade agreements?

I suppose I could just look at his website, and probably I will, but I'm a little curious about what you think about where he stands on some issues.

I can understand wanting to go with a winning horse. I definately don't want Bush back. But as for the primaries, if everyone voted on issues, and think we would all be amazed at who gets the real support.

(also, no offense, but to beat the big money boys, you must play their game. why not play a different game and beat bush the old-fashioned way?)

2. Yep
Unfortunately by the time most people get involved in the political process, to the extent that they do, the vast majority of the potential ideas have already been squashed.

Kucinich faces this very problem. A significant portion of Americans would find themselves agreeing with his ideas I believe, but they will never get a chance to hear them. By the time the majority begins to pay attention the only candidates left will be the ones the one-percenters want you to see.

4. That's why true campaign finance reform is essential.
Not the nonsense we have now.
