A question concerning the notion of Saddam leading us to WMD.
I have seen a couple of threads and news reports that are still clinging to the notion of Saddam having this elaborate and massive store of WMD that has yet to be found and seem to believe that Saddam might be able to tell us where they are.

Is that really a logical thought? I mean, even assuming such weapons did exist which seems unlikely given the lack of evidence of production facilities and storage facilities for such weapons, but does anyone actually believe that:

a) Saddam buried these weapons himself (or supervised the burying of said weapons) if they exist?

b) Saddam would have memorized coordinates of sites if they were buried?

To me that is like assuming Bush could to tell you where every missile silo is in the US without having to consult a piece of paper or being about to pick out on a map where our weapons laboratories are. (Of course where Bush is concerned, I'd be surprised if he could find his underwear without a handler telling him what drawer to look in).

Is this notion of Saddam being able to give us WMD information that we don't already possess just wishful thinking or am I missing something here?

1. Well
Saddam presumably played things pretty close to the vest; if there were WMDs he might be able to at least point us in the right direction, if he couldn't necessarily lead us to them directly. What's unclear as to why he's going to help us? Aren't we pretty much going to kill him sooner or later? There's no plea bargin on the table. So why will he help us?

2. Maybe you didn't see the story. He said there are NO WMD.
As much as I know many wish for them to be there, it seems the bedraggled ex-dictator has confirmed what most of us knew all along - that they exist in the scheming minds of the PNAC architects and thats about it.

3. I don't buy it
I don't think that Saddam would cooperate with US authorities. If he has knowledge of WMD, he's not going to volunteer this information (in my opinion). Why should he? He's pretty much guaranteed the death penalty.

If Saddam denies that Iraq had WMD, the US authorities will not accept this as the truth, even if it is true.

Either way, they will say that Saddam is not cooperating and add some more lies and fluff to the insinuation that Iraq possessed WMD and life will continue as before.

I think if more Americans were aware of day-to-day life in Iraq prior to Bush II's war, they would be more skeptical about Iraq's WMD. Personally, I do not think Iraq is/was the greatest threat to the United States. But Saddam was certainly a threat to the Bush family.

Now that we've exorcised the elite Bush family problem with our country's money and the lives of our citizens (and even more Iraqis), can we please focus on true threats to the United States of America?

4. Saddam had WMDs hidden in his beard.
Now a barber has infected all of Iraq. And I bet they sent some of those hairs to the WH.
