Clark holds significant lead in Oklahoma

Latest SurveyUSA poll 12/13 to 12/15 in OK.

453 "certain democratic voters" with an MOE +- 4.7%

Coupled with Clark's move up in the South Carolina Poll (Dean 21% Clark 20% there) and Clark seems to be establishing himself as the force to be reckoned with after NH. Edwards isn't challanging, Lieberman and Kerry are falling back. If Gephardt loses Iowa he is out. Both SC and OK have significantly more delagates than Iowa and New Hampshire.

I think that Kerry and Edwards supporters need to seriously consider backing Clark unless either of them start to get the consistent high numbers that Clark gets un multiple polls, particularly on the 2/3 and 3/2 primarys

4. I still believe that Edwards has on a whole the better platform

although Clarks college plan gives Edwards a run for his money in the best of the pack, but the polipundit post telling the Dean-supporting Bushies, who've been helping try to get Dean the nom with there wallets, to start donating to Edwards so he can stop Clark in SC and to Kerry to stifle Clark in NH, is what broke my lock with Edwards.

I may be wrong but I think the plan involves neos donating to Dean to build him up as the frontrunner, and now supporting Kerry and Edwards to derail Clark for the same purpose.

Off hand I'd say its another right-wing mastubatory fantasy. Any GOP donations to Dean are most likely "old school" VMA donations in case he ends up in the WHite House.

So it isn't actual Democratic Dean supporters that the post is talking about.

Of course I could be misunderstanding the whole thing. I'm old. I forget.

13. The nominee definitely needs to take some language from Edwards

His incantation that bushco only wants to "tax work, not wealth" is a great soundbite phrase. Hopefully, whoever the nominee is -- because I don't think it will be Edwards -- will incorporate those arguments that Edwards has been making. One of the best things for our eventual nominee about this process will be all of the good ideas that have been thrown out by all the candidates. Let's hope that they've been listening to each other every once in a while.

I've read that Lieberman has the best healthcare plan. Does anyone know anything about this?

Anyway, while we know a Democrat in the WH will do something about domestic issues, with a repub congress the going will be tough. It will be the direction that matters most, along with a Democratic president's ability to draw some repubs along. With bush in the WH we go in exactly the wrong direction.

The bottom line is you can't be progressive unless you can make progress! That means you've must own the WH and the bully pulpit.

If we can take Arkansas and/or Louisiana, we might hold onto one more Senate seat.

God_we are down to the wire as a party, and think we have the time to play their fricking polpundit games.

...doesn't seem like the best strategy. When our only thought process is "We should stop them from doing what they want." Then they've already won.

The fact that Polipundit wants Dean and doesn't want Clark shouldn't be dispositive of our preferences. I'm sure they look at Dean and say, "whoa, nobody would ever vote for THAT guy," and they look at Clark and say, "huh, I might consider voting for that guy." It doesn't really matter so much what they think though, because their votes are out of our reach anyways...

I think Democrats are in a better position to decide which of our candidates can attract more of the base and more of the Democratic-leaning swing voters. So, I'm going to vote my heart in the primaries (probably neither Dean nor Clark) and let the democratic process decide.

We're all supposed to react with orgasmic glee to the news that a certain candidate has won a straw poll at the East Buttslap Knights of Columbus Hall, but when supporters of another candidate post an important poll, we should be all dismissive.

As for Oklahoma not being a very progressive place, the poll concerns Oklahoma Democrats, who, regardless of your opinion of them, are going to send delegates to the convention.

Polling Democrats in Oklahoma doesn't have anything to do with the general election. Oklahoma has DELEGATES to the convention. If it boils down to Dean and the "anti-Dean" then every single delegate counts. By the way, I am not suprised by this as I saw in the HOTLINE that Clark has outspent everyone in Oklahoma like 10-1 in recent weeks. On television buys in Oklahoma City and Tulsa (Oklahoma's two major cities).

The General obviously because he is leading by a good margin. The doctor because Oklahoma is not an obvious Dean state (Yankee from Vermont) and yet he is running a solid second with almost twice as many votes as the third place challenger.
