Website Ratings for Dean and Clark
Dean
http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379&h=216&r=6m&u=deanforamerica.com/&u=

Traffic rank: 3,859

Clark
http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379&h=216&r=6m&u=americansforclark.com/&u=

Traffic rank: 59,340

The lower the number is, the more hits that a website gets. It looks like Dean's website is beating out Clark's website in terms of reaching out to people via the internet.

A few fringe activists will not result in victory in 2004.

15. Yeah, I don't know the URL for Clark's real site
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 02:13 AM by _Jumper_
:eyes:

Read post #6. I obviously looked into the matter.

The number of hits on Clark's real website do not even come close to the number at Dean's site; anyone who has been following the support the candidates have on the internet would already know that.

Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 02:17 AM by _Jumper_
It is true that Dean has far greater support on the internet, as well as stronger grass root support than Clark. However, that does not assuage the number one fear Democrats have about a Dean candidacy. Here is a Dean website that will give you an idea as to what those fears are: http://www.deanmcgovern.com/

5. Slinkerwink,
You are a tireless if poorly informed propagandist. The URL is NOT the clark website.

Now, on to substantive matters. Is there really some point to all of these stupid little mini-competitions you post to instigate ... er ... what exactly? Do you think this is actually earning the Dean campaign some kudos. You're obviously motivated, intelligent and have some time on your hands. How about using it to better illustrate Dean's strengths or write limericks or something.

6. You forgot to mention this about their site rankings
;)

http://pages.alexa.com/features/candidates.html

"It also appears that candidates Clark and Dean are losing some ground."

"Ohio's Dennis Kucinich picked up enough traffic in the month of November to bring him into the spotlight. His positions on everything from flag burning (he's against it) to NAFTA (he'd end it promptly if elected) have managed to create an impressive surge in Web traffic."

"Another newcomer to the Web traffic graph, John Edwards, has gained as well. The wealthy attorney turned Senator for North Carolina has a more moderate platform and a great story about being the son of a millworker, and he's definitely still in the running if you watch his Web traffic."

We all make mistakes.

I am sure that after learning about General Clark after finally visiting his site she will change her opinion about which candidate to support. ;)

26. Candidate url confusion--
Upon reading this thread, I realized that I hadn't visited any of the candidate's websites as much as I should have because I'm not sure of the exact url for their official websites, and I would guess I'm not alone. The times I have wanted to visit a candidate website I have gone to google first to figure out what it is.

There's no way to measure this but it probably has some negative impact on getting the Dem message out to uncommitted people like me.

29. Dean campaign tunnel vision
1) Website ratings can be easily manipulated by a campaign and its supporters. Ultimately they are as reliable as Internet polls.

2) What about the older and poorer folks who don't have the skills or easy access to the Internet? They are core Democratic voters. Dean's supporters seem to be doing a pretty good job of ignoring them.
