WBEZ (Chicago NPR) reporting that ex-Gov. George Ryan to be indicted today

Ryan is a repuke, and is facing federal charges for the "Licenses for Bribes" scandal. Although I have few doubts that Ryan is guilty, I have a grudging respect for his moratorium on the death penalty in Illinois. Ironic that he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

1. I told my mom, who lived in Springfield

at the time that Ryan proposed the moratorium, that even though I admired him for doing it, I bet that he had an ulterior motive...like either he would some day face the death penalty or have friends who would. When do repukes do anything for the good of anyone other than themselves or their friends and families?

he tried desperately to tell people that it was going on, but the Ryan media machine drowned him out, and cost one of the most honorable Democrats to ever seek the office of Governor of illinois his chance at election. *sigh*
