New Pa Poll Shows Dean Lead and Best Against Bush
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 11:14 AM by unfrigginreal
Poll: Dean leads Democratic pack in Pa., holding Bush under 50 percent

WASHINGTON -- Presidential hopeful Howard Dean is pulling ahead of the Democratic pack among Pennsylvania voters and is the only candidate to keep President Bush under the crucial 50 percent mark, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Dean, the former Vermont governor, holding a double-digit lead over his closest Democratic rival in the Keystone State -- the nation's fifth-largest electoral prize. Dean nabbed 28 percent of the 1,092 registered voters surveyed, compared to 17 percent for Sen. Joe Lieberman and 10 percent for Rep. Dick Gephardt.

Former Gen. Wesley Clark collected 9 percent, and Sen. John Kerry had 7 percent, the poll showed. Two months ago, Dean held a mere 5 percent of support among state voters.

Even more telling, Dean would hold Bush to a 49-43 percent margin while the president would score 50 percent against Lieberman, Kerry and Clark, and 51 percent against Gephardt, the poll shows.

2. take that, Karl Rove
I have contended all along that the "Dean just like McGovern" bullshit is coming from Rove and from the increasingly desperate Democratic contenders who see their chances slipping away. Dean has the best chance of beating Bush.

5. Again, this is before an actual campaign
yet we continue to waste our time on them. Does anyone really think John Kerry will only get 7% with Tersa HEINZ campaigning with him?

9. that is assuming that all of them will not vote for Dean
but in states like Iowa and NH, Dean is the second choice of most Kerry, Clark, and Lieberman voters according to polls.

Dean is the most electable in the key state of Pa. This is following many other polls showing Dean closing the gap with Bush.

This poll was conducted from dec 11-14 so includes respondents after Saddam was captured--and Dean didn't collapse.
