Does anyone know the political composition of Billy Tauzin's District?
I was just wondering if the Dems could win it.

The guy was named Billy Tauzin.

He (and his distr9ct) was politcally indistinguisable from U.S. Rep. John Breaux and his district.

So, I guess it will depend on how you define a Democrat. Can a Pro-Life, Pro-Gun/Sports sort of Democrat win? Yeah, you right. Will Howard Dean carry that particular district? Um, uh, well, there's always New Orleans to help carry the state.

On Edit: My natal state of Louisiana shares one trait with my current state of residence, North Dakota. Both have sucked long and hard at the federal teat, Louisiana via Russel Long and John Breaux, who succeeded him.

Having had the likes of Long, Breaux, Hale Boggs, etc. looking out for their interest, they will not quickly give up D.C. influence. They would need a really swell reason to dump Tauzin's current seniority and influence. Like a change of control in the HOuse.

3. Missed that. He and JB are the same age.
Probably both going to retire and go frog gigging together like they did a long, long time ago.

Even with the new rules about lobbying after retirement, they are going to remain very powerful guys in DC.
