Diane Sawyer actually presses Bush in recent interview about WMD...
DIANE SAWYER:   But stated as a hard fact, that there were weapons of mass destruction as opposed to the possibility that he could move to acquire those weapons still —

PRESIDENT BUSH:   So what's the difference?

DIANE SAWYER:   Well —

PRESIDENT BUSH:   The possibility that he could acquire weapons. If he were to acquire weapons, he would be the danger. That's, that's what I'm trying to explain to you. A gathering threat, after 9/11, is a threat that needed to be de — dealt with, and it was done after 12 long years of the world saying the man's a danger. And so we got rid of him and there's no doubt the world is a safer, freer place as a result of Saddam being gone.

This entire exchange is well worth reading. Bush is not at all happy with Sawyer's persistence and shows it in both body language and speech.

1. "I lied....so what?"
Like the Teutonic bullies of the Nazi holocaust, George Bush believes that the end justifies the means. And with the help of the captive media and American citizens who are more concerned with driving a Hummer than living in a democracy, he'll get away with it.

2. I think I'll go shoot my neighbor
because there's a possibility he could buy a gun in the future and shoot me with it.

I know he's owned guns in the past - I sold him some.

12. Reminds me of the joke about the game warden.
He comes upon a lady reading a book out on a small lake, her boat filled with hubby's fishing gear. Hubby is back on shore taking a little nap after a very early start to the morning's fishing.

So the warden says, "Lady, I'm going to have to take you in and charge you for fishing without a license."

Protests the lady, "But I'm quite clearly reading, not fishing!"

"Well, you've got all the equipment here, how am I to know you won't as soon as I leave.? I'm taking you in."

"Sir, then I will have to have you charged with rape. You have all the equipment and you're here, I do I know you won't?"

....or something like that.

4. IMPEACHABLE!!! This is worse than parsing the word "is"
"The possibility(1) that he could(2) acquire(3) weapons. If(4) he were to(5) acquire(6) weapons, he would be(7) the danger. That's, that's what I'm trying to explain to you. A gathering(8)threat..."

1 - Possibility
2 - Could
3 - Aquire
4 - If
5 - Were to
6 - Aquire
7 - Would be
8 - Gathering

Please contrast these words with:
Right now(1), Iraq is(2) expanding(3) and improving(4) facilities that were used(5) for the production of biological weapons. -Bush

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had(1) the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. -Bush

We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently(1) authorized(2) Iraqi field commanders to use(3) chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have(4). -Bush

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt(1) that the Iraq regime continues(2) to possess(3) and conceal(4) some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. -Bush

Let alone all the other Admin officials with even bolder quotes than the above. We all know he's a liar, but this takes word parsing to a new low.

So, when did you stop beating your wife?

5. But then again this says it all right here...
So what's the difference?

He doesn't even care that he lied. He acknowledges it and then says... big deal. I love it.

8. He admitted that he lied
And he's betting that the sheeple won't care.

Now if he had sex with an intern....we'd be talking impeachment, right?

10. It's only been 12 years?
I thought he took power in the 70's, went to war with Iran and murdered a few thousand people in the 80's, well before 1991.

Oh, but the world was a different place back then. It was alright for all these western governments to make deals with a terrorist. But we don't do that in the US. No, no, no, we don't negotiate with terrorists.

If I was Iraqi, or most people in the arab world, I wouldn't trust a damn thing western governments tell me either. They've been experimenting with that part of the world since at least WW1. Carving it up, reshaping borders, taking consideration in absolutely nothing about the culture of the land. Whether it be England, France, Germany, Russia, America, it doesn't matter. All those governments have taken their shots at playing with the lives of those people, who at one time had the leading civilization on the planet. Now it's the world's most violent civilization. Somehow I don't think the average muslim/arab/israeli/christian/hindu/buddhist/human being from the middle east wants that. Although we're a close 2nd, we just don't have the bombs going of on a daily basis yet.

I'm so tired of people playing with other people's lives. It's abvious why they do it. It's why we do anything anymore anywhere in the world. Money and power. Whether it's a western government, or a middle east leader who wants in on the fun of living a life of luxery, it's all just a game.

I wish all this mess did start only 12 years ago. It might be easier to clean up if that were the case.
