It's not just electability

I think that some of the Deanies think that most of us Clarkies believe the General's "electability" is the primary alure.

For me, anyway, this is not actually the case. THe fact that he would beat Smirk like a rented mule is a major plus, of course. But, for better or for worse, he also represents the direction I'd like the party to go. His resume, and his stances on AA, public schools, environmental issues, guns, etc. make his political profile very close to my own. He's Bill Clinton with four stars, a spine, and a zipper that stays up.

I would really, Really, REALLY like to get back the rural, Southern, white male, and (ex-)military vote back on our side where it belongs. THere has been much hand-wringing, rightfully so, about local party-building. IMO this would be a helluva lot easier with a popular war hero as the standard bearer/poster child for us.

1. I would like to hear Clark be able to relate his ideals away from

his military experience. The guy has been military so long I'm not sure he totally understands what it is to be a common citizen.
A good guy but he needs work on his domestic worldliness.

8. He has put together

An impressive number of issues papers in 3 months since he started campaigning, most of it is domestic. I don't think if you have looked at it that you would say he doesn't grasp or doesn't understand the issues. not a chance! When that happens perhaps we can get the white southern male to vote something other than republican...now they are certain, every African-American is going to steal their goofy little jobs and they all want to date their fair-haired women...and it's the liberals who say love your brother...shit no way, the republicans are right, those liberals want to give my job away and are forcing our jobs to go overseas, because of those damn liberal unions...good thing the republicans are there to look after us and keeping America strong and terrorist free.

7. I'm a Clark supporter

To tell you the truth, for me, electability is the number one reason I support him. Let me explain. The thing is, there isn't a heck of a bit difference between he and Dean on the issues: internationalism, choice, AA, public education, health care, etc. One poster mentioned the middle class tax cuts, but although I agree with Clark on that issue, I don't think it's really a big deal. The middle class barely saved anything from *'s tax cuts, so I wouldn't be too upset if Dean repealed that part as well as the tax cuts for the rich.

For me, it's the fact that I see Clark with the best chance to win.
