Greta: Very well. Senator, let's start with governor dean. He seems to be the man at least for the moment to beat. Do you believe, in your opinion, is he weak on defense? That's what some people are saying today.

Lieberman: Well, he is weak on defense in the sense that he's had none of the experience that people like me have had, being on the armed services committee, I tried to get president bush to enforce it, and the positions that howard dean has taken during this campaign have been dubious and at times irresponsible. I think this statement that he made earlier that after the war was successful that he supposed, he just supposed that iraq was better off without saddam was outrageous when you think about how many people saddam killed and how he suppressed the freedom of the iraqi people for so many years and just the other day after the capture of saddam, the fact howard dean said that the capture of saddam hussein did not make america safer, that was just way out and not realistic.

Greta: There's an ad that is being run that has from some group, that hasn't been identified. In fact governor dean's website wants to know the identity of the people running it in new hampshire and south carolina but also it puts -- it suggests governor dean is weak on national defense but also puts up the picture of osama bin laden. Is that fair to governor dean?

Lieberman: It's probably not faiR. But I'll tell you what democrats should think about as they think about who they're going to vote for in the primaries and how they wanted to defeat george W. Bush. That's exactly the ad the republicans will run against howard dean because of his lack of experience in foreign and defense policy and because of some of the weak on defense positions that he has taken and the irresponsible, sometimes impulsive statements he's made about foreign policy. We're not going to defeat this president with somebody who doesn't assure the american people they will keep them safe and secure and then get their confidence to go on and fix the economy and health care and all the resT.

8. Well, not surprising.

It takes less courage to bash Dean than it does to bash Bush, the person who should really be the focus in Lieberman's run for the Presidency. The Dean bashing will backfire--on the candidates who do the bashing, and also for the supporters of these candidates who are bashing Dean here on DU and elsewhere. I've almost forgotten how much I hate Bush. Alot of Dean's supporters are going to drop out if he doesn't get the nomination, because the one man who gave them hope and got them involved in the political process is being ripped to shreds by just about everyone, so eff them. I'm to the point where I don't care, after seeing how ugly people in my own party can be. Anymore, I'm wondering, what's the difference? I have nothing more to do with those who take every chance they can get to bash Dean than I do with Republicans. Lieberman and other's like him will alienate many Democratic voters.

What is his problem???? He has been on the same anti-Dean tirade for a week. Is he that stuck on the fact that Gore endorsed Dean instead of him.

He is not getting the nomination and hopefully in 2006, a real Democrat will unseat in Connecticut's primaries. Go back to being an attorney or whatever!
