Tom Kean has just become my favorite Republican

For the first time, the chairman of the independent commission investigaing the Sept 11 attacks is saying publicly that 9/11 could have and should have been prevented.

"This is a very, very important part of history and we've got to tell it right, " said Thomas Kean. "As you read the report, you're going to have a petty clear idea what wasn't done and what should have been done," he said. "This was not something that had to happen."

Kean is a former Republican governor of New Jersey, and is now pointing fingers inside the administration and laying blame.

Thank you, Gov. Kean. Thank goodness, Henry Kissinger left the commission and you joined it. Keep at it and hopefully we won't have "Democratic Leaders" coming to Bush's defense as they tend to do at times like this.

Can't wait to see Chimpy up there lying/squirming under oath. Let's get out that Constitution and re-look at the "high crimes" section.

5. He Was a Fairly Decent Governor

As a moderate Republican, Tom Kean did a pretty good job. Until his last term. You see, the NJ Constitution mandates a balanced budget - Kean couldn't run again because of term limits, so he left his successor (Democrat Jim Florio) with a huge deficit. Florio tried to balance the budget with tax increases - this led to Christie Clod Witless getting elected four years later.

8. Being from Joisey myself...

Gotta agree. He was overall pretty decent, not so good at the end but respectable. He's one of the few Republicans I like, mainly because he does seem to be rather reasonable and not so tied to party-line BS.

Besides, how could you NOT love those old commercials, with Tom smiling away saying, "New Juusey & you, puufect togethuh" (or as best as I can exaggeratedly phonetic it...).
