If you want to take the pulse of the Conservative community, don't go to FreeRepublic dot com and expect to find it.

Freepers are generally culture warriors - cum - Bush fans. Their lack of interest in here-and-now issues is highlighted by their continuing active hatred of Bill Clinton, who left office three years ago.

The Neo-Con "movement" is to Conservatism as Naziism was to German Traditionalism. Which should give most Conservatives the (not-so-Slick) Willies, since Hitler went after German traditionalists who disagreed with the Nazi movement, too.

The Neo-Conservatives are certainly not Nazis, but that's only for lack of genocidal ferocity. The political arcs of all such bully political movements, from Naziism down to Moral Re-Armament, are roughly similar; and in a relatively few years, the Neo-Cons will fear to show their faces in public.
