http://www.365gay.com/newscontent/121803calInjunct.htmA California Superior Court in Sacramento Thursday denied a preliminary injunction to block the Domestic Partners Rights and Responsibilities Act from going into effect in January.
The act was one of the last pieces of legislation signed by Gov. Gray Davis (story). Beginning in January the California Secretary of state will begin sending out letters to the registered domestic partners in the state notifying them of the new law.
It mandates child custody and child and spousal support obligations, the right to make funeral arrangements, community property and spousal support, access to family court, parenthood presumptions, state court testimonial privileges, access to married student housing, and mutual responsibility for debts. However, while the act becomes law in January, the provisions do not kick in until 2005.
Thank God!
