Does anyone else feel the "Moderator" is out of control?

Admittedly, I'm not a huge Dem Underground poster, though I have been lurking here time to time for years, so I am partially speaking from ignorance. But what is going on here? What is happening to this place? First, I read that Jiacinto (for those not in the know, a legendary Mod-Dem poster here at DU) has been banned for attacking Al Sharpton. A DU Lounge thread asked about his whereabouts, expressing genuine concern, and of course the thread has just been locked for no apparent reason. Given this, I expect this thread will be locked as well before long.

In fact, a ton of threads have been "locked" today, for no convincing reason as far as I can see.

What makes DU fun and interesting is a spirit of lively debate. Yes, we all want DU to be civil. But just where is the line between enforcing civility and enforcing conformity? Why is a Democratic political forum resorting to censorship? I have agreed with the measures taken up till now, but in the last few days I think a real line has been crossed.
