Overwhelming Evidence of Conspiracy to Make Americans Stupid!
Wow, I generated so much heat on my last two threads - Overwhelming Evidence of a 9/11 Conspiracy and Americans are Evil - I wondered what would happen if I COMBINED THEM INTO A SINGLE TOPIC!

To my surprise, I DID discover overwhelming evidence of a conspiracy to make Americans stupid! The primary conspirators are the corporate media, corrupt public officials and an army of "gatekeepers," many of whom pretende to be ONE OF US!

I don't really have time to delve into a lot of details, but here are some examples that indicate the success of these agents of mental incapacitation:

A frightening crook who effectively lost or stole over ONE BILLION DOLLARS had the nerve to run for office - as Seattle Mayor! Even more astonishing, this clown had no issues. His campaign consisted almost entirely of a stupid slogan - THE SEATTLE WAY. The punch line? Greg Nickels got elected, while the best candidate (who the media didn't mention) only got about 1% of the vote!

Example 2: Although many Americans now believe that corporations pack a lot of clout in government, most still can't believe that corporations could or would take over our PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Don't tell that to Microshaft co-founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who may one day be known as THE FATHERS OF CORPORATE EDUCATION (assuming Allen manages to get his own personal charter school initiative passed).

Example 3: Arnold Scwhwarzenegger!

Just before I posted this, I realized that this thread isn't about evil Americans at all. It's about stupidity, which really has nothing to do with the war America's illegal occupation of Iraq!

The Republicans used to be liberal, way back when. With an attitude like yours, YOU don't belong in America. Why don't you move to China? I hear they need people for the job of "ideological purity enforcement" there.

11. Example 2
Corporare education will only teach students what they need to work in a corporate setting and nothing more. You can expect that punctuality, passivity, not to question superiors, etc. will be heavily promoted. We can also be sure that critical thinking will not be encouraged because it disrupts the system.

12. I agree it is overwhelming....
but the biggest group of conspirators appear to be public elementary and high school teachers!

The evidence leaves no doubt that a public education may leave you illiterate after 12 years of a so called education.
Still have doubts, then I hope you sometime see the Tonight Show clip of Jay Leno asking a high school teacher what president gave the Gettysburg Address. The teacher, who was on a field trip to D.C. with her class, and was standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial answered George Washington.

13. This actually goes back even further
In the late 19th century, corporate influence in American Public education was already well established. I can't remember specific references beyond some very interesteing items archived in The Memory Hole, but industrial manufactures required a certain style of passivity in the American public both as workers and consumers.

What results is a very truncated view of history, politics and social issues.

I would argue that on the whole the American public has been stupid - on an ongoing basis - with "real" education preserved for ruling elites. Its sort of a class management strategy.

TV and mass media in general has only made things worse - but one could argue that the use of radio and the press back in the 30s accellerated things. I am thinking of the Third Riech.

" When I think of all the CRAP I learned in highschool, Its a wonder I can think at all"
Paul Simon.

In my own case I have a GED, a 9th grade education and a BS from the University of Texas. Never did learn to spell properly, weak in math, but I do have a degree and am published and did not spend a minute in high school . I keep coming back to the idea that our institutions are not here to serve us. They have their own ends to serve in creating passive respondents and good consumers.

14. Institutional deviance
You are completely correct. Educational institutions do not serve the people. Rather, they have always served the monied interests. It is no small coincidence that public education started during the industrial age. Historically, education was used to train the masses on how to work in factories. The results of this are generations of people who are sheep instead of independent thinkers.

I too have wondered, what the Elites learn in their seperate school system. They could very well be teaching them the finer points of social class management.

15. I agree
Its more to do with maintaining privelledge.
Its another aspect of the caste society in America. I suspect having been around mumber of MBA candidates that they come already inocculated intellectually with a pre dispositon towards maintaing a status quo from which they benefit.
Its a class issue where either you fit in or your don't.

Its about vested interests in a rigged game. We allow this to happen. Sadly maybe this goes back to Plato's Cave Analogy. I don't want to be unfair with regards to our public institutions. What we have now is the product of a shared responsibility.
These patterns are a reflection of how power and authority are maintained.

Not that I defend it. Critical thinking is simply not valued in public education.
It never was.

19. Yes, it does go back - check out this interview
excerpt from an interview with Norman Dodd about the "Hidden Agenda" of the foundations and our educational system. It is an eye-opener!

snip:

NORMAN DODD: That effect was to orient our educational system away from support of the principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and implemented in the Constitution; and the task now was the orientation of education away from these briefly stated principles and self-evident truths. That's what had been the effect of the wealth, which constituted the endowments of those foundations that had been in existence over the largest portion of this span of 50 years, and holding them responsible for this change. What we were able to bring forward, what we uncovered, was the determination of these large endowed foundations, through their trustees, to actually get control over the content of American education.

ED GRIFFIN: There's quite a bit of publicity given to your conversation with Rowan Gaither. Would you please tell us who he was and what was that conversation you had with him?

NORMAN DODD: Rowan Gaither was, at that time, president of the Ford Foundation. Mr. Gaither had sent for me when I found it convenient to be in New York, asked me to call upon him at his office, which I did. Upon arrival,

16. Actually, I think it's more like
a lot of Americans were already stupid and the conspiracy is to capitalize on it.

Speaking of Arnold Schwarzenegger, anybody catch his fabulous life on VH1? Anyone who thinks someone with that kind of excess gives a rat's ass about making anyone else's life better is truly, incurably stupid. I also saw a lot of evidence he has a pathological thing about JFK. I'm even more scared of Arnold than I was before.
