Fmr Maine Gov. Angus King interview on NOW
Did anyone see this interview on this past week's episode of NOW? I found it to be fantastic -- and saw Fmr. Governor King as a noble character from a sadly bygone era in US politics.

What really picqued me from the interview was the recollection that Gov. King had of one of his travels across the state on his Harley, in which he pulled up at a roadside stop to pick up a few things. He said that the lady behind the counter put her hands up on the countertop when she saw him coming, and disparagingly referred to him as the "taxman". She then complained about how bad the roads were and said she "hoped he had a bumpy ride".

King went on to say that this is typical of the disconnect among the populace across the country. Nobody wants to pay taxes, but everybody wants the benefits that COME from paying taxes.

Did anybody else catch this interview? Any thoughts on Gov. King from Mainers on the board?

2. I've always liked Governor King
A social liberal, a fiscal conservative. Very much like Dean. A very smart, competent, and absolutely ethical leader. He also had amazing political acumen.

Too bad he refuses to go for higher office. His family comes first.

4. Angus was a good GOV
Independent Governor at about the same time that Jesse Ventura was doing a not-so-good version of the same thing.

6. Saw it. Enjoyed him...
Silly me, I had never heard of him but I really enjoyed listening to him. Someone posted that he has no more ambition for public office, too bad.
