Peta Members
What do you think of their newest bunny being stabbed protest? Anyone considered turning in their peta card?

If not why not....did you agree with the tactic?

1. Link?
Not a PETA member, but what's this about? For my money, I did give PETA money back in the day, but I became convinced that they hurt the cause more than they helped, and I give elsewher.

I don't know the link but supposedly they staged a protest which handed out pictures of a bunny being gruesomely killed to children at a nutcrakcer performance.

5. No "supposedly" about it. Here's the link to the PETA webpage

In order to fully understand it, you NEED to click on the link at the bottom of the page to see a larger version of both sides of it. Then imagine somebody giving it to your 4 year old.

3. Ok I may get hammered for this
but does PETA stand for "People Eating Tasty Animals"? IMO, PETA is a joke.

6. I preferred the "I'd rather be naked than wear fur" campaign.
It got tons of press, but wasn't so extreme, and didn't piss off people except the fundie anti-nudity crowd.

8. Not as bad as McDonald's running hamburger trees ads.
I don't agree with this PETA campaign, but I don't have to agree with everything PETA does to support them.

Millions of kids see McDonald's ads which run during Saturday morning cartoons encouraging the kids to eat meat. Some of these kids have parents who are vegetarians. Some of these ads imply hamburgers grow on trees.

The reach of this dubious but brief PETA campaign is negligible compared with McDonald's ads which have beena aimed at kids for decades, and will be for decades to come.

9. that's exactly my attitude
this campaign bothers me more than any of their other ones, but I don't really see the point in piling on, PETA is such a whipping boy of pretty much everyone.

I think some people are under the impression that they somehow represent liberals, so they have to distance themselves from PETA or something. Well, this is just a mistake, I think people can relax, PETA is just PETA.

11. don't bother
i had to put people on ignore from the other peta threads there was so much hatred and vilification.
look up, theres already a few responses here
"people eating tasty animals" ugh, complete lack of compassion and understanding, with a decade old joke as well.

i also notice no one ever addresses the issues peta raises. it's "wow that new campaign is horrible" instead of "wow fur farms are inhumane and awful" no one ever wants to address issues of compassion and kindness, they'd rather trot out peta to be bashed to smithereens. of course their methods are way over the top, but how else would you hear about them? this is not to say that the "ends justify the means" but the amount of people that came out of the woodwork to bash the hell out of peta and make offensive comments to vegetarians/vegans and animal rights supporters was truly saddening.

and people claiming that the flyers outside the nutcracker were being handed to four year olds were either really misled or lying, the flyers were being handed to young teenagers whose parents were wearing furs, which is why they were done in comic-book style.

all in all, yes the comic is graphic but so is the slaughter of innocent animals for fur.

15. Sorry, read the flyer.
That's not language used to reach young teenagers, it's language used to get to very small children. "mommies", "kitties". "doggies", "bunnies", "your friend, the racoon", et cetera.

Tennagers, even young teenagers, are far too sophisticated for language like that. The pamphlet is geared towards very young children. Teenagers would LAUGH at it, or want to get the videogame where they get to kill the animals.

that are PETA members. The animal rights movement attracts people from both ends of the political spectrum and also plenty from the middle.

16. Message to PETA
Lets end HUMAN suffering!
Kids that have no food, vegan or otherwise.
People that suffer because of no insurance, kids too.
Take away HUMAN suffering, then you got my support.
Until then, I'd better not see you hand my 6 and 3 year old that trash.
There will be trouble, count on THAT.
