Terrorist Chatter involves Weapons of mass destruction

The worrisome chatter intercepted by the nation's terror hunters is "perhaps greater now than at any point since Sept. 11, 2001," said Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

Worse, the fears involve the possible use of weapons of mass destruction, top U.S. sources have told the Daily News.

Ridge said Al Qaeda "continues to consider using aircraft as a weapon." But The News has learned officials fear more than just hijackings this time. The "high threat environment" is also rooted in grim fears that terrorists might use chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons.

3. "The fact that [Saddam] is gone means America is a safer country."

When is this administration going to be held accountable for the things it does and says? Assuming this terror threat is legitimate (a stretch for some to believe, but play along for a second) - doesn't this show that we, in fact, ARE NOT SAFER today than we were pre-Saddam? I'm no Deaniac, but I believe the Governor got it right, and got absolutely hammered for it.

Given this administration's claims of our success in Afghanistan, decimating al Qaeda leadership, and catching the ultimate "weapon of mass destruction" (gag), don't we have the right to expect that we shouldn't be hearing about, "worrisome chatter" which is "perhaps greater now than at any point since Sept. 11, 2001"? Shouldn't we have the right to expect, given this administration's rhetoric about how much safer we are post-Saddam, that al Qaeda shouldn't have the capability of attacking us in a more spectacular way than they did on 9/11?

I guess the ultimate question is, if al Qaeda can still get us to spend $70 million per week to respond to an orange alert, hasn't this administration been a miserable failure in the "war on terror" and don't we have the right to call them out on it without being called "unpatriotic", "anti-American", or "playing politics with national security?"

I'm sick of this administration speaking about accountability for others when it is so apparent that they aren't willing to take accountability for themselves.

5. Everytime they've raised the alert

someone in the administration says the chatter is "greater than any point since Sept 11, 2001." Though, given what this administration says they knew before 9/11 any chatter would be greater.

6. I can't believe that Ridge & Co.

can't tell the difference between an internet hoax and the real thing. This guy Daleel_Almojahid, who is spreading all this chatter all over internet forums is right up their with those emails from Nigeria that want to put $13 mil in my bank account. Can someone buy Tom Ridge a friggin' clue.
