When our new President takes over... (war/UN related)
When our new President takes over (taking the optimist route here ;) ) and he goes to the UN regarding Iraq... what should he say?

Should he apologize for Bush's actions and say, let's wipe the slate clean and start over... the US wants a good relationship with the UN and the international community so I'm sorry for my predesecor's behavior but please don't hold that against America? Let's work together again.

Or would degrading Bush in the UN be a bad thing for America? I truly don't know.

4. The new president should try to get international support
but the U.N. does not always have the US's best interest. He or She might be in a similar situation down the road w/ North Korea etc. and when and if that occurs it is the president's decision as to what route to take, not the U.N.'s.

2. Good Question . . . .
Something definitely to ponder over. Personally, I think that we should do EXACTLY that. Apologize for having such an awful president that couldn't care less about working with the world community. I have so often been totally embarrassed by his behavior and have WANTED to let the world nations know that I sure didn't vote for him!!

My vote is: apologize and try to start over. I think the U.N. would appreciate it because they have been shoved so much arrogance from the U.S.

Another thing: If GWB gets re-selected (heaven forbid), then the world will not only hate Bush, they will hate all of America.

3. Yes, he/she should apologize
This puppet was installed, and without a mandate headed down an extreme right wing path. It was not the will of the people. Yes he/she should apologize with special apologies to France and "Old Europe." Nobody will get the chance however, these people will never give up power.

5. He should march into the UN, apoligize for America's
arrogance, and ask them what we need to do to make amends.
Offer up Bush and Co. to the world court for prosicution, sign the Koyoto treaty, and basically kiss ass.

spelling? I am one of the kids left behind.

7. No apologies, just start afresh
Apologies, in my view, need to be applied judiciously, because they focus on the past, rather than the future. There's a lot of stuff that WE deserve apologies for (the US is right sometimes, y'know, and other countries have their own sets of baggage) so it's pointless to start this game.

Walk in and show by word or action that there's new leadership and that things are different now.
