You either have to believe that this gang is motivated by the welfare of the nation, and would never use the power at their disposal to manipulate public opinion, or you suspect something is up. I suspect something is up.

Something is wrong with the new alert. Its being played up bigger than any of the recent ones as far as I can tell. I'm seeing Osama's face over and over again. Rummy sez: "bet your life that its serious"...

It comes just after the bush regime claims America is safer after the saddam "capture" - gives fuel to the "admin took the eye off the ball in negleting al qeada to invade Iraq" argument - and comes during the critical holiday shopping season, just as bush needs to look good on the economy. Seemingly, this is bad for the regime all around. Unless...

Unless the US is taken to the point of extreme fear, and then, at the last minute, osama is "captured" - plot foiled, we are saved!!! Praise bush!

This gang does have a flair for the dramatic. The carrier "Mission Accomplished" landing. The Iraq turkey run. Iraqi wmd drones over the US.

I don't see this alert ending without some kind of climax. And some climax that benifits bush.

Just speculation, of course. What do you think?
