If this orange alert represents a real danger
how would anyone know? These are the same people who used images of mushroom clouds to scare people into supporting the invasion of Iraq. These are the same people who said Iraq could strike the east coast with missiles of mass destruction, the same people who told us to wrap our houses in duct tape and plastic. How would we ever really know if there was a real danger. Talk about the boy who cried wolf. Until these folks are out of office there will be no knowing. Just another way in which they have endangered us all.

1. How are we supposed to react anyway?
Exactly how more anxious am I supposed to be today than I was last week? What reserves of paranioa need I retain for when we go Code Red?

Have I not been shopping enough? Is that what this is all about?

5. I just figger...
if they attacks, they attacks, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Presumably, the geniuses in charge are doing their best, whatever that may be, to protect us. Going under the assumption that their best is not very good, there is still nothing I can do.

So, I don't worry about "terrists." There are enough other causes for worry that I can do something about.

8. from what I can tell
the most palatable fear here & across the globe is of what Bush might do next.

2. I don't believe a thing they say either
You have made some really valid points. If nothing happens then the administration can tell us they saved us. The sad part is most of the people will believe them.

6. The term 'terrorist'...
applies to anyone who tries to scare masses of people, or resort to killing civilians in order to bring about their agenda. I think it's safe to say that the terrorists are holed up in the White House.

7. It might be a real danger
so you stock up on a few items at the house and let it ride.
After seeing the dazzling performance when it really counted 9/11, I'm not sure they would know what to do the second time either.

9. How do you know? I don't believe a word this administration says.
The only way to know if they are spot on is if there is a some sort of successful attack--staged or otherwise. If there isn't, then the creeps can claim they've been vigilant.

11. and why should we believe any of this?

12. I don't react . . .
Why should anybody be scared? The possibility of something happening is just that - a possibility. Just like a car accident, a heart attack, anything. You just can't live scared because of what this mis-administration says!

They say possible attacks and if none occurs, they stopped it (but how the f@#k do you know?) - and if something happens, then they say they were right.

This is all a setup for them to "right" (heehee, a pun) no matter what.

13. The REAL point of all these
so-called terror alerts is to get us used to living in a police state. Heightened security at airports, lots more police presence everywhere. May we look inside your car trunk? Passing through metal detectors to go inside any government building. It's not going to end.

It's a steady erosion of our civil liberties, and too many of us submit quietly. Of course, our only real choice is not to fly at all, or not to enter any buildings that require passing through a metal detector and having our backpacks and purses searched.

It will also require in the end, a much, much larger police and security force. At least some of the millions of lost jobs can be replaced with a police/security force job. Of course, that doesn't make up for the quality of the lost jobs, but if the numbers go down, what the hey!
