Iraq's current OPEC status?

Thinking (by US, provisional gov, etc.) re: the course of nation's future status?

All the pre-holiday talk about the dollar vs. euro and the latter's possible adoption by OPEC got me thinking.

No clue here.

1. I don't think they are allowed in OPEC because they do not

have a real government.

I think OPEC will go with the EURO just to spite Bush.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules by bumping my own query of a back page. But if anyone can ad to the discussion as to the mechanics of OPEC, requirements for member states, the present status of Iraq--and most important--tidbits read and heard about Iraq's future w/r/t OPEC, I'd be most apreciative.

Big questions: Would a producing-at-capacity, non-OPEC Iraq create stabilizing or destabilizing pressures for region? What would other effects mignt there be? How do people of Iraq feel about the issue? Do we know anything re: the thinking of those in provisional authority?
