Miserable failure George W. Bush actually has on his bio a bit of truth!
http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html

George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. He was sworn into office January 20, 2001, after a campaign in which he outlined sweeping proposals to reform America's public schools, transform our national defense, provide tax relief, modernize Social Security and Medicare, and encourage faith-based and community organizations to work with government to help Americans in need....

Even the official white house bio doesn't come out and say that Bush was elected!

Sooo... next time somebody says "reelect" the Resident, be sure to point him to the official bio and ask 'em where it says he was elected before!

2. A Sickening Thought
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 04:18 PM by Citizen Daryl
What do you think? After the 2004 election, do you think the GOP will come out and say:

"Hey, you know what? Those silly Democrats were right after all! Bush wasn't elected! Boy, are our faces red! But hey, that being the case, our beloved Bush has only been elected once! That means he can run again in 2008!"

(Assuming, of course, that he slimes his way into the Oval Office in 2004. Since I don't put anything past this cabal, I'm not doubting this will happen.)

3. The Constitution has this covered
It's under vice-presidents but works here.

If the current president wasn't elected into the White House (the last one is Gerald Ford), and there is two years or less between his installation and the next election, he can run for office twice and serve if elected.

If there is more than two years between his installation and the next election, he can only run for office once.

In Bush's case, he was installed on the first day of President Gore's term, so he can only run in 2004 no matter what the freepers say.
