What TV news do you watch?

It's looking more and more clear to me that mainstream media is backing Bush and his right-wing agenda. As we all know, if you control the media, you control the country. At first I thought it was just Fox, but now CNN has become pretty bad, too.

My question is which stations do you watch for news? Are any of the network evening news programs better than others? Are there any anchors or cable news programs that you would consider "fair and balanced?"

I normally don't watch TV News...normally I'll watch local news and read the SF Chronicle and come here.

We get all our news from either the Akron Beacon Journal, our local newspaper or the Internet. DU is always on top of latest breaking news.

I have basic cable, so my choices are very limited. Occasionally I'll watch CBS if I hear about something major happening.

Most of my news I get from DU and other online news services.

But I get the "real" news from Democracy Now with Amy Goodman every weekday morning on KPFK radio in LA, and I also regularly check LBN on DU.

12. I stopped watching cable news when Bernard Shaw left CNN

It was right after the coup of 2000. I think he saw the writing on the wall and decided to get out with his integrity intact.

I get my news from the internet and my local paper. Google news search is excellent. Plus I subscribe to truthout updates and check commondreams.com for a good sampling of progressive columnists and breaking news on progressive issues.

The only time I check the tube for news is when I want to see the pictures that go with a story.

Some of it NPR some BBC, and much off the internet. We do suscribe to the local newspaper.
But I might listen to Washington Week in Review on PBS

All of the preceding were pure unadulterated CIA operations. NPR is nothing but propaganda aimed at Americans as opposed to citizens of foreign countries.

18. TV News?

What is that?

I try to listen to alternative radio (NOT National Corporate Radio) but I can't tell that anything on TV that purports to be "news" is anything but government issue "reality TV"

19. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

and NOW with Bill Moyers. Those are the only shows left that have real news on them or that I can generally stand to even watch. Occasionally watch Nightline, also Frontline has some good programs.

I've completely abandoned all cable news, unless there's something very specific scheduled, like an interview with a candidate. I actually mostly get my news from LBN here.

I haven't watched local news since 1980 - they wouldn't know a fact if it bit them on the leg. I use to watch CNN for facts, but since Bush got in, it's just another propaganda arm of the government.

26. Not a single one- and I have excellent blood pressure

and am more informed than any person I know. With broadband, it's pretty well pointless to watch any of the whoring media- and thanks to fellow DU'ers, SC'ers and the like, I see what they are saying without having to subject myself to their lies. And I do mean lies. It's gottten so bad that they will just look the monitor (and hence you) right in the eyes and flat out knowingly lie. It's infuriating and it's pathetic.

Indeed (and this isn't meant to apply to DU'ers) some of the most grossly MISINFORMED people I know derive their knowledge from television news. They don't seem to understand yet that what little of substance they are watching is laced with propaganda and simply not credible. For the most part, it's wise to assume that anything factual that they see about policy matters on any American television news channel, including PBS, is false until it can be verified through several credible online sources.

On edit: added American. I'd probably watch BBC or CBC if it were on at a reasonable hour, but as I said, it's not necessary with broadband.

I deleted both Fox and Msnbc from my cable. They are worthless.

I don't watch the mainstream networks news, but if I did the only one I would watch is Jennings.
