Can Cowboy Bush ride?
This question occurred to me during Bush's recent visit to Britain. Someone remarked that Ronald Reagan, uncultured buffoon though he was, at least shared with the Queen a love of horses. Ronnie and Queenie rode together (horses only - unless I've missed out on yet another fruity royal scandal) on the Queen's estates. Oddly enough, Cowboy George didn't go riding.

He puts a lot of effort into his cowboy pose - the hat, the boots, the crushed-testicle swagger. However, I've never seen footage of him riding a horse, I've never seen a photo of him riding a horse, I've never even heard any mention of him riding a horse. On the other hand, I have seen a picture of him falling off a Segway.

I mean, a cowboy who can't ride? That's like pretending to be a fighter pilot when you can't even fly. Absurd.

2. The "free horses"
of the earth cannot bear the terror of the undead Nazgul, so I doubt one would let Bush on his back. (thanks to LOTR)

WINDSHIELD COWBOY -- “Asked if she rides horses at the Bush ranch in Texas, (Laura) Bush smiled. ‘We don't ride horses,’she explained. ‘My husband is what is known as a 'windshield cowboy.' He rides a pickup truck.’ " Washington Post online, Thursday, December 12, 2002.

9. he nearly got in trouble in Mexico
....when Vincente Fox assumed he was a rider and had plans to go riding.

I've seen photos of George and of Clinton when they were little boys, dressed up in cowboy gear and sitting on ponies. Typical photo shot of the era.

19. Putin had expected to go riding
on his first visit to the "ranch." He must have been disappointed.

BTW, Vicente Fox had two horses on the scene when * appeared with him for the cameras. * patted one on the nose, but that's as close as he got. He also declined to don a sombrero offered by one of the Mexicans. I guess he was afraid of looking silly. What a wuss.

15. "phony on a pony"? This is the only pic I've seen ...
... and it looks like he was dressed in cowboy togs and plunked on the animal's back just for the snapshot.

Georgie's first staged photo-op!

Various DUers have said that they remember itinerant photographers in the 1950s, offering to take pictures of kids sitting on a horse/pony/donkey.

18. some of the animals are stuffed. I remember them well. I know
there are photos of me on a buffalo, a pony, and an elephant. Only the elephant was alive.

Notice they don't show the lower legs of the horse. The right rear leg? A three legged horse?

20. These pictures are very common here
even way before the 50s. I have pictures of myself on ponies from the 40s, and of my mother in the 20s. Guys with ponies would go door to door in neighborhoods and these pictures would be taken.

I have a picture of myself with a monkey (in a little knitted suit) on my back taken in at a tourist spot in London in the 80s.
