Terrorism, 911 and Oklahoma City: Vidal, McVeigh, Binladen, and Bush
In my lifetime there have been two major terrorist attacks against America - the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City and the destruction of the World Trade Center.

The official story of the Oklahoma City bombing is that Timothy McVeigh, a veteran of the first War against Iraq and a member of right-wing, conservative, fundamentalist Christian organizations like Elohim City, bombed the OC federal building as revenge against the ATF for the attacks on Randy Weaver and the Branch Dividians in Waco, both actions initiated under George Bush Sr. A significant number of ATF agents were absent the day the bombs went off, and this was discussed in the mainstream media. Do I remember this correctly? Didn't Gore Vidal interview McVeigh before he was executed, and wrote that the press was misrepresenting the story, and that many people had prior warning?

The official story of 911 is that terrorists from conservative, fundamentalist Muslim cults, led by Osama Binladen, the "black sheep" of the Saudi Binladen family corporation, hijacked the planes that flew into the WTC. It's been reported in all of the mainstream press that there were significant prior warnings from our allies, the UK, Germany, Israel, and France, along with others, and that they gave repeated and specific warnings about hijacking and attack plans by Osama Binladen and Al Qaeda, in the months before 911.

What is going on with all of these prior warnings of terrorist attacks? If I don't remember correctly about these stories in the mainstream corporate media, please correct me?

The United States federal government, and especially the Presidential Administration, has a significant amount of power over and information about the people of America. They have the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, I and II. They spy on civil rights organizations, anti-war marches, newspapers, hippie concerts and raves, pot growers and heroin dealers, organized crime, the League of Women Voters, and Americans in general. They have access to all the credit reports, academic records, and marketing profiles that Corporate America compiles. But they can't stop hijackings planned and financed by the richest corporation in Saudi Arabia, that George Bush Sr. has been in business with for years, every major oil company, Exxon-Mobile and the rest, have personal relationships with? They can't do anything about the Binladen family openly funding organizations with ties to terrorism in Virginia, the GOP stronghold?

If it's true that the Binladen terrorist shock troops, that were headquartered and trained in Talbian controlled Afghanistan, plotted and executed the attacks on New York, than breaking up that regime was unquestionably a good thing - I was always disgusted at how the Bush regime coddled the Taliban before 911, inviting them to their Texas ranch, making pipeline deals with them, and either promoting or discouraging their heroin trafficking (depending on who you believe). At the very least Bush shouldn't have been friendly to them - women and men couldn't even vote. The Bush's collaboration with the Taliban regime was as bad as his current "hands-off" policy towards the Saudis, the same policy he had before 911, when he made sure that John O'Neill's investigation of the Saudi terrorist networks "backed off".

We're on what, Orange Alert? What the hell does that mean anyway? If "National Security" and the "War Against Terrorism" and "Homeland Security" are going to be the big issues in the primary and the general election, I'd sure like some more information about exactly what's going on.

I don't believe for one minute any conspiracy theories that Americans have "too many rights" or that the vast intelligence networks, the CIA, FBI, ATF, DIA, HS, of the US are too "tied down" with "bureacratic red tape" to do anything about the open funding of war and terrorism by the richest familes (like the Binladens) and the wealthiest corporations (like Halliburton).

To quote a famous Democrat, Will Rogers, "All I know is what I read in the papers." From what I've read, somebody's lying, and somebody has been murdering Americans for a few years now, and our government is either unable or unwilling to protect us.

1. Here's another explosion, and another ignored warning:
the FBI was warned about the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and chose to do nothing.

From The New York Times, Thursday October 28, 1993 Page A1:

"Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast"

Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building
a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center,
and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting
harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after
the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb
and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by
an F.B.I. supervisor
who had other ideas about how the informer,
Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.

The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of
hours of tape recordings that Mr. Salem secretly made of his
talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as
being in a far better position than previously known to foil
the February 26th bombing of New York City's tallest towers.

The transcript quotes the informant as saying he wanted to complain to FBI headquarters of the failure to stop the bombing, but was talked out of it by an agent.
