manipulation? That the alerts are designed to prop the administration through fear? This latest round of orange seems to be a real nonstarter; the public is all but ignoring the warning and going about their business.
Even those on the right must be able to see the gazillions of targets in the US that are left alone, meaning that there really aren’t that many terrorists after all. Another issue that goes directly to the reality of the administration’s concern is that they aren’t interested in avoiding an attack that isn’t like 9/11, for example not protecting the ports etc. Maybe the public can see that it is all a show after all?

1. Certainly the millions of people who celebrated NYE |

in cities like New York, Boston and San Francisco didn't take the alert all that seriously. The plane that was detained in DC also seemed a little hokie to me. But I think it is hard to put out an orange alert and hype the danger and then tell people to go on with their lives. I am determined to be careful because deep in my heart of hearts, I don't believe that this administration can protect me.

We all know that is a crock, but 70% of these same people think Saddam had something to do with 9/11. The most uninformed listen to state-run TV (Faux News).

I just realized that though we saw many family members and were in major tourist areas, no one mentioned the alert even once.

I don't think most people pay attention at all with the exception of paranoid people. Honestly, at any point in time an outbreak of violence can occur. I could bust into your house and just start blasting. There is really no reason to fear what you can't control.
