Imagine that! We get an education! I don't actually remember any professor being outright anti-repub except my Environmental Science professor. You should have heard him rip on Reagan's past policies in the early 90's.

Besides that, I took all my other classes and information and made my decision. EDUCATION: Republicans worst nightmare.

I've never considered myself a Republican, although I did love Eisenhower when I was a child.

However, I was registered Republican for a few months so I could vote for John Anderson in the primary against Raygun. I'd consider doing that again if there was any real opposition to Bush*. But I'd vote for the Dem in the general election.

. . . I switched in early 1970 when I realized that Nixon had sold us out as a peace candidate.

My great-grandfather's cousin was vice president under Teddy Roosevelt.

Most of my aunts and uncles on my father's side are fervent Republicans. The last time I visited one of my uncles, he had a picture of Nixon on the wall, 8x10! (frame, no mat, black and white) When I went back to my sister's house for thanksgiving, she started talking about the turkey in Baghdad, what a great thing it was to show the terrorists that we are in control and all.

Sometimes the Republican candidate was a lesser evil. Once all the dixiecrats switched to (R), I never voted for a republican again.

Ike was President as I came of age. Yeah, I voted for Nixon.
Also worked the Cow Palace for Scranton of PA at the 64 convention.
Republicans were much different then, even Nixon.

I was raised as one (My father loved Reagan). After I left home, once I was old enough to vote, I actually registered as an Independent. I figured since I've never been a registered Republican, I could truthfully answer NEVER!!

I finally registered as a Democrat in 1999 so that I could vote in the Democratic primaries in 2000.

were Catholic. As a very small child, I was asked by an adult, was I Catholic or Protestant? I said, "No, I'm just a democrat". My mothers family are 100% repuke and my fathers family are long standing democrats.

The adult who asked me the question was the father of this man.

25. Grew up in a socialist family.

I was pretty apolitical as a kid. 4 years in the Marines convinced me that what my forebears had said about the military and capitalism was true. Registered Democrat in '65. I've never even considered voting for a republican tho' I have voted 3rd party a couple of times in disgust at the Democrats moving to the right. Hopefully, I'll be voting Democrat this time.

Voted for Reagan in 1980 election, what a mistake that was! Registered Republican in 2000 only to vote for John McCain in primary. Reason I couldn't stand Bush* then or

The only two GOP presidents I ever had any respect for were Lincoln and TR. But, to be honest, I was brought up by my staunch GOP mom, and I did support Gov. Rockefeller in NY, (a genuine moderate R).

However, I will NEVER vote GOP again. Once I became more politically aware, I realized that the GOP was a sham, and cared only about Big Business and profit.

This is NOT the party of Lincoln and TR...it has become the party of hate and despair. There are always enemies, but they create them! Suddenly, it is up to a Dem to settle the matter! The current GOP lives on fear and hate...deprive them of those two tings, and the entire GOP house tumbles to the ground.

I had just recently moved back to California and went to a voter registration booth to re-register. Apparently, it was a Republican function. Anyway, so this is what transpired near the end of the process:

Booth worker asks:
"Do you mind if you register as Republican, you can vote for anybody you like, but you will get information about the Republican party"

My reply:
"Yes, I mind"

And then she checks the Republican box ANYWAY!!! Can you believe that??? I was so shocked, I couldn't even think of what to say. Anyway, I re-registered at the post office a few days later. So, unfortunately, I can make the claim that I was a registered Republican once (albeit only for a few days).

Actually in the 1980's, but not officially until just recently... as i thought wrongly that the registration was per-election, and that it did not carry. As i have not voted since reagan, it makes me a non-voter in reality... one who will be voting kucinich in this coming NY primary.

Voted for several Iowa Republicans years ago too, maybe up til the last 80's.

However, back then, there were many moderate Republicans, who were pro-choice, common-sense, good folks. Nowadays, if you are a moderate Republican like Snowe and Chafee, you'll be mercilessly hounded by the far-right party goons.
